Client installer corrupted?

Hi all,
I pulled my old rig out of storage and downloaded the installer (ftp://portal.uoex.net/uoml_excelsior_expatch12.exe).
The file downloads and when I attempt to install, I get a series of errors saying that the files are corrupted (re-download and try again). Is anyone else having this issue?

Hey +C, FTP is deprecated and they're starting to remove it from web browsers. You should switch that link to http.

And no, the installer is not corrupted. The current download is byte for byte identical to what I downloaded in 2017. Your computer may be corrupting the file. Try a different browser and check for viruses.

Zatheran, I have just made the file available over HTTP, go to http://www.uoex.net/startup and download the prepatched client version 12. (link updated to HTTP protocol). If even this fails, then it could be something else - as Wil mentioned. Or maybe I would suspect that your hard drive is corrupted. If your computer/harddrive is very old, I'd recommend doing a scan and also making sure you have backups.
(On the other hand, if you have a beast of a gaming rig, with hard drives in a RAID, sorry to make such an assumption. Some players still have celerons or Core2Duos, and the game still works fine on those).

Wil, thanks for the reminder. Yeah I have heard that FTP is on its way out, but I figured that since the protocol has been around for so long, there's still a few years before it actually happens. I just found that NASA has disabled FTP already in 2018. Anyway, the download link is updated, our FTP server will remain online for another month or two. Then it will be one less service to have running and have to think about

The system is def a a gaming rig-- but I'll check for corruption on the SSD. My gut is telling me it has something to do with this dern wifi dongle -- the download fails often and I have to "retry" to resume. Incredibly this is happening in Firefox and Chrome (is this an MS ploy to get me over to Edge? haha).

In any case, I'm trying to download the file from the new link. I have a new wifi dongle coming in today, so I'll also try the download with it if the installation continues to be broken.

And if all else fails, I'll do another Windows refresh (I just did this two days ago!).

If you can't manage to download after two more attempts, let me know. There used to be a torrent link as well for those who prefer that way, so that's something I can fix as well.

I managed to download the installer on my friend's laptop (no download errors there!) and transfer it over to my computer -- game installed without errors and is up and running!

I think my wifi dongle is crap (it's 5 years old at this point, so this checks out).
