New auction idea...

I've been playing 5 years, and I still can't bid over the richest players, so don't get too discouraged when you can't compete in the auctions.
I'd rather newer players know this upfront, rather than get super discouraged and quit or just be really bitter about it.

There weren't items special for new players that only people of certain age could bid on or use so I knew there was 0% chance of me getting anything.

Auctions are supposed to be money sinks that keep inflation at bay. The point is to drain as much gold from the server as possible, that's why auction items are mostly rare/powerful and - as a result - expensive. If you have 1 mil in the bank you're not the target audience because while it may seem like a ton of money for a new player, in the grand scheme of things it's a chump change.

I agree with this statement 100% but you have to always be reaching out to new players to try to get more people involved and interested in what the server is doing. You have to keep everyone in mind not just a small portion of the shard or no one will want to get involved.

+Colibri has already stated that they are planning to host monthly auctions in the near future. The auctions will sell lesser (read cheaper) items. These should make auction items more achievable to all players.

Back to the original topic... Sell those impounded weapons at Grand auctions! Beware though, the price is going to be appropriately high.

Just to throw in my 2 cents,

As some of you have already stated, the GRAND auctions are here to sink gold and tokens in exchange for some of the strongest/rarest items we have to offer.
Yes we would like to host more auctions in the future.
We are also upgrading the auctioneer(the entire block+safe thing) to allow for player run auctions at a small fee(i think its 3% not sure tho), so with a bit of luck you too can own/rent(not decided yet) an auctioneer of your own.
As for the impounded weapons, great idea but weapons getting permanently impounded is a pretty rare event.

Last point, we always encourage you hosting your own events, that also includes player hosted auctions.
