Writing for Millions Part 2
Re: Writing for Millions Part 2
@Melkor
Good to hear from you, I was curious if you would be coming in or not seeing as I had lost track of you. In answer to your curiosity.....
Bumpdate!
Alright, official word is, the contest continues. Furthermore, I think the deadline shall be within a months time (though leaning to more like 3 weeks from now, namely depending on the speed of the final entries). So, if anyone has been waiting for the deadline here we go:
HAVE YOUR BOOKS IN BEFORE DECEMBER 8TH
It might be extended 1 week, but I figure most are just scanning for the big letters anyway, so this will maybe speed things along ^_-. Good luck everyone!

Final Bumpdate before announcement of winners!
Alright, it has been a long wait (used to long ones for this contest, but this is a doozy :p) but the reading is coming up quickly. December 8th will be the closing of the contest in which the winners will be announced once they are decided. Now, it is not too late to get a book in if you have just found out about this contest! Keep in mind the winner last time was literally turned in 3 hours after the announcement of the contest. Don't know what the contest is about? Read the first post. I will be placing an announcement on the Town Crier for the end date, and I shall see you sometime after the 8th.

Re: Writing for Millions Part 2
Hehe, you are not the only one Merlynious, I am quite excited to get to reading myself ^_-. Though I have to say, the ones I have been flipping through, are....well....great ^_^. I am so satisfied with this batch that I am actually calling in the judge from the last contest to take a look through them as well ^_^. But, also keep in mind, the end of the contest comes on December 8th, but the winners will not be immediately announced. There will be a waiting period for the 3 judges to finish reading all the books and confer on the winners before they will be announced.
Speaking of which...I am going to add a poll for the people that have entered the contest (or are pretty sure they will before the deadline). Granted I can't enforce this, just politely ask that if you are not taking part in the contest, please don't vote ^_^. Anyway, the poll is whether to do an 'awards ceremony' or just do it like last time, where I post the winners here and PM them to get their prize. The only difference would be an extra award for one particular person that I think deserves it, as well as a special something for everyone who participated, plus the ability for me to test out my new "Auditorium" (based heavily off the TC Auction room), and....FREE COOKIES**
! I will keep an eye on the poll and once I finish I will see if it is in favor or against favor, if against I will simply post the winners at that moment. If in favor I will set up a time to convene.

OH MAN!!! Results tommorow! *crosses fingers* I'm not the best writer but when I seen this contest I knew i had to share my story. I've never actually done any contests in UO but capture the flag and PVP tourny's. Even if I don't win I hope whoever reads my books get's a little excitement out of them. Good luck to all!

@Merlynious
Hehe, understandable enthusiasm bud; but keep in mind the contest is over tomorrow and the grading starts; the results will not be immediate ^_^. Me and the 2 other judges will have 55 books (approximately 1100 pages) worth of material to go over before we can even begin speaking of winners. Be patient, but the climax is definitely here ^_^.
Well, without further ado let me explain how things will be going from here on out. First, obviously the turning in of books will be over as of tomorrow once I wake up. Anyone that has messaged me while I was asleep (for those on different timezones) will have their books picked up at the nearest possible time (since my work week will be starting we may have to find alternative ways to meet up, but that will be done on an individual basis). Other than that the grading will start at that point and will carry on until all judges have completed their grading, decided their individual winners, then convened to decide on the official winners. From the looks of the poll, we will be having a get together for the initial announcement of the winners; I will post the time and place once they are determined (it is fair to assume it will be on Monday or Tuesday of this coming week, the 13th or 14th). I will attempt to make this at a time in which everyone will be available (assuming everyone gets off work/school around 5pm EST, though I will make adjustments to take into account as many timezones as possible). The ceremony will not take too long, basically it will consist of the typical speeches, a special award, then the announcements of the winners. I strongly suggest that the authors that took place in the contest stick around to the very end, even if you do not win; there will be a small gift given to them for participation. After the ceremony area is cleared out I will come on to the forums to post the winners (just like last time) for those that were unable to attend.
Now, as for the books themselves, I am going to do something a bit different. Since I don't have any holdouts like I did last time; the books will be on display BEFORE the announcements of the winners take place. This should give everyone something to do while we are deciding ^_^. Obviously to get them posted I will need some time and some space, so the second floor of the library will be completely closed off while I get the books on display, after that you are free to come in and take a read (I will call it out on global after finishing).
Finally, if you have books that you just could not finish in time, or you had extra ideas in the last few days leading to the deadline you are not without hope! I did not announce this last time, but I shall this time. You may turn in books after the contest is over and they will be posted as though you took part in the contest, but since you did not they will be automatically entered into the next (yes there will be a next ^_^) Writing for Millions contest.
And, for a bit of a teaser note, if you want another opportunity to get some EDs and work your brains, start studying up on your general knowledge of UO and Excelsior; there will be another contest as soon as I can complete work on it; though this one will be alot different than my previous ones.
Thanks to everyone that has made this contest a smashing success and to everyone that has simply supported the idea. These things are always fun to host, but obviously more so when you actually have a fair number of people join in. As always, keep an eye to the forum, and I shall see you soon.

I'm looking forward to seeing the results as well. Though I know reading through everyones entries is going to take some time. My entry has 11 books, so I know it will take a little time for them to read that plus all the others. Good luck to all who entered this time.
Re: Writing for Millions Part 2
@Subixee
Sorry for the wait, working as usual ^_-. Quick answers: No winner decided, Yes to the contest, and you can already see the books posted; put them up on my days off ^_^. For a bit more detailed answer check the post above yours, just after my comments to Merlynious I have many details posted. The only variation is going to be to the ceremony date, from the looks of things it will be Wednesday rather than Monday or Tuesday before I will be able to get the ceremony together (though I have already made the cookies ^_-). I will put a crier message out with the exact date/time as soon as I am sure, as well as posting it here.
@ Bird
You could not be more right ><. I foolishly called the deadline on my last day off so I am trying to read as many as I can in the hour or so between getting off work and going to bed (I work long hours ><). Total count of books ended up being 55 if I remember right, hence the extended wait for the announcements (plus I am definitely taking part in +Veritas event
).
Just for fun, little behind the scenes of why I will soon have patches of hair missing.

Took that picture just for fun while putting the books in the library, little did I know that I made a miscount that made me tear down the entire section and rebuild it from scratch >< (with the mistake took 3 hours from planning, to alphabetizing, to placing, and all the cigarettes in between
). One author will know where the miscount is
.
