I like the concept of an experience gain in Fel and a reduction in Trammel, though not as extreme as what's been suggested. Doubling experience gain in Fel and reducing Trammel to 80% of what it is now would be sufficient to motivate people to go somewhere more challenging for greater rewards.
If the success of MMOs such as WoW has taught the gaming community anything, it's that players are reward-driven. It's usually a better idea to leave current systems as-is in terms of general difficulty (or close to it) but make the opportunity cost for using those systems higher.
In this scenario, the opportunity cost of leveling a weapon in Trammel vs. Felucca is essentially zero. Trammel has the same reward structure and the benefits of increased experience (if any) in Fel don't compete with the convenience of leveling in Trammel.
If we want to compete with scripting, we have to give people a reason to want to go to Felucca. We should be able to offer a path of least resistance - scripting - which takes forever in Trammel vs. a shorter total period of time for leveling in Felucca but a much more manual process.
At the end of the day, the goal should be simple - player A and B have a weapon they want to level. Player A doesn't really play the game a great deal, so he opts to level his weapon via macro in Trammel, which takes him let's say 4 weeks of (attended) scripting around Doom for 2 hours a day. Player B plays a lot, so he opts to level his weapon in Fel, and he knows what he's doing, so for 5 hours a day he levels in Felucca - no scripting involved - with monsters that are much more challenging, and this takes him a week and a half.
The concept is to offer rewards for those who put in the time. Our current system offers only one viable, obvious path to leveling weapons - fire up a script in Doom. There is no motivation to do anything else even if you play 12 hours a day. That path is still how you should always spend your time regardless of how good or active a player you are.

Well I am usually just a beligerant troll on the forums but I totally agree with what I've quoted. I even bolded some important text. I play infrequently now but when I was an 8hr a day man my days would go like this:MKaros wrote:I like the concept of an experience gain in Fel and a reduction in Tramme...

1. arrive at comp watching myself banksit at Britt.
2. Alt+Tab to easyuo. Press play on 3 scripts.
3. Fire up 2nd monitor and surf the net or watch a movie. Even drag me lappy out to the kitchen or whatever and make some food/clean up.
The point is the most productive way for me to spend my time was to just run my lvling scripts (exactly as MKaros has said above). It is simply the most efficient way to spend your time. In a solid 8hr stint of lvling I would finish with 200k exp, 100k tokens and about 500k gold or more depending on how many others were also partially afk macroing.
I think a small reduction in exp in tram and a boost for exp in Fel would go a long way towards this lvling problem. Make places like umbris/sgail not get a boost since they are already heavily spawned and good places to lvl stuff up at... I think Fel needs some incentives for basic dungeon crawling etc otherwise the playerbase will just stay on the same treadmill for a long time pumping out lvl 100 blazes and bone crushers at 1 per week....
I'm actually all for a singificant increase in the difficulty of lvling a weapon. I would increase it by a factor of 5 or so to be totally honest... 5mil exp for lvl 100 instead of 1mil... but thats an argument for another day. So for now just nerf tram exp and bump it in fel. Thanks in advance +C.

Re: an idea
Just a question with regards to this last post:
You press play on 3 scripts and make 500k a day?
how the heck you doing that? The only scripts I use are to save me from carpal tunnel syndrome with turning wool to cloth, training craftskills, and Blaze's Pet fighter for when im grinding 15k per 20mins or so at Daemon temple!
Pray tell oh wise one - how does thee make so much moolah!

Now I have to disagree here. Don't change tram, but you can bump it up in Fel if you so desire. They are systematically eliminating all the afk levelers (there are rumors that some have been caught) so the weapon leveling will go down.qbf wrote:Well I am usually just a beligerant troll on the forums but I totally agree with what I've quoted. Re: an idea
Please dont drop it in Trammel. Ive been levelling my first weapon for 2 weeks now and I have about 94k exp on it. Gonna take me months of running around trammel destard wacking dragons and drakes to level this baby up.
I have no idea how people do this in a few days or a week. Its mind numbingly painful for me to eek out 20k on a good day

off subject. sorry m8s but the thing is i've noticed before people asking for new vet rewards but no one has given any suggestions. I'm trying to make a thread that's kind of a resources for the staff. so they know what people would like to see. Not saying they have to give it to us.
