New to the server, have questions
UO was my start in gaming at its beginning, played through several expansions and left to WOW when it hit the streets, so... 15 - 14 years give or take since I last played and now back in noob status,
I understand there are many changes more so on this server and I have a couple of questions.
1. Young status; I understand ends after 21 days, you denounce And or 1000 total skill points, so my question is the 1000 skill points across my account or character based? Meaning 1000 across all of my chars or per char? Can I play another toon without having to worry about my cap?
2. Purchasing housing; What is required in purchasing a place to live? Gold, Tokens, ED?
Thanks

Hello!
Welcome to the shard!
1) Your young player status is account wise, so you will lose it. It's in general not that important to be young - just helpful for exploration.
2) You can place a house using the house placement tool, purchable from an architect. There are classic houses (fully finished) or custom ones. The cheapest one starts with 37.000 gold.
In general, ED is mainly used for specials within the donation shop in Trinsic. It's needed for highend gear, but not for common stuff. You can check the prices on most basic stuff by typing [exex for the trade tool.

Re: New to the server, have questions
Thanks for the responses
I need to correct myself on the young status, it's 14 days not 21.
If I understand you correctly rainydays I lose the young status if I reach the 1000 skill points all toons combined, so that means I can't play any other toons if I want to retain the young status on one char. The new player guide was a bit vague in this area. For example I have two toons 1st toon is at 450 skill lvl points and the 2ed toon is at 545 points that would give me a total of 995, 5 points shy of 1000 points if combining them both together thus knocking me out of the young status, is this correct?
Thanks

Re: New to the server, have questions
It's probably worth mentioning unless you intend on using the second character solely for bulk order deed gathering, multi characters is wasted given there is no skill cap.
In game name : Poulton (or Voot for you vets)

Re: New to the server, have questions
That makes a good point Styx. Actually I was at around 800ish when I came across this guide so I locked all of my skills so as to ride the young status as far as I can.
I'm taking advantage of the rat quest.

Re: New to the server, have questions
The rat quest is locked by account age (21 days), not by young status.
Young status just means you won't be attacked by certain mobs in most places. If you enter a dungeon you will still be attacked.

Young status ends after 40 hours of ingame time regardless of how many skill points you have. Just thought I would let you know.

Yes Maze, I was aware of that, I believe there was a list of options that would end young status.
Requem, OH talking about confusion thanks for bringing that to light, I had the 21 days and the young status confused and combined together. I'm a bit happier now.

Re: New to the server, have questions
I know the question wasn't asked but since those you did ask were answered, I figured i'd add something too. Once that young status is gone, make sure to level up all your weapon skills on the trainers! You can equip a training dagger and leave your toon to level up to 75 overnight. (I did that for all of my weapon skills but fencing since fencing really isn't used much here). You can unattend macro the fighting skills on the trainers.
Also, make sure to read, re-read, and re-read again the WIKI. LOTS of good info there. I actually keep my Wiki page pulled up in my browser at all times just in case I need to remind myself about something.

It's also rather useful for animal breeding.Styx wrote:It's probably worth mentioning unless you intend on using the second character solely for bulk order deed gathering, multi characters is wasted given there is no skill cap.

An update
Things are coming to light I'm still in the learning stage and have since joined the ETA guild in which has a 120 trainer that I've been working on.
