I can't find any of the old posts about luck, maybe someone can direct me to where I can learn?

What does luck impact? Does it help crafting ?

Over the past 5 years I've heard it works and doesn't but I don't have data or information to support either.

Ty all

3 things I can think of:

- Bio engineering
- Tokuno drops
- Paragon drops

Everything else has been hotly debated

If luck hasn't been changed in this server it should be same...

I do not believe that luck has anything to do with paragon drops. Ive done alot of testing and can tell you that the drop rate with 0 luck is the same as it is with 4000 luck :-(

I can verify the opposite chests.. not sure but direct artifact drops most definitely a factor

Impact: pet breeding gender

Evidence: Collect 4 pets from the breeder and note the order and gender. Return 6 hours later and collect 4 more pets on the same character. If genders were pure random there'd be a 1/16 chance of a repeat. The actual chance of repeat is closer to 1/3.

Shift your luck by several hundred points (change gear) for the second breed. The chance of repeat drops way down.

Impact: simultaneous breeding

Evidence: Each time I've added a relayer with another 400 luck my characters have promptly succeeded at their next hard breed.

Impact: sterile breeds

Evidence: when I occasionally forget to don my luck gear I get a spike in sterile breeds.

Impact: generic drops

Evidence: Spend some time in Citadel with low luck. Then spend some time with high luck. You'll get better stats on the generic drops with high luck.

No Impact: pet levelling

Big difference depending on pets and self being fed, but when I occasionally forget to don my luck gear I don't notice any difference in pet ability points gained.

Luck is so quirky in UO..

Luck effecting Tokuno artifacts is a total myth.. As a newb with no luck I would get 4 or 5 minors every time I went to fan dancers dojo, now with 1000 I still get 4 or 5 every time I go to Fan dancers dojo..

With Paragons this one baffles me. I have gotten I think 2 in 6 months with para balrons, with no luck all the way up to what I currently have.. Yet my brother has hardly any luck but gets one everytime with that lvl t-map, every time and he has very little luck..

There is most asurdly a difference between property intensities with looted weps based on luck, not that you cant get a good wep with low luck but your chances are much lower

These threads may help. +Colibri's response on the first thread I do believe you may find interesting.

Just in case you can't find +Colibri's response
+Colibri wrote:Well, explaining *how* luck effects all the different systems, that are affected by luck, would be a lot to write about, also there needs to be some mystery in the game which I would not like to reveal.

What i can say is that each of the systems has a different formula for calculating the luck (doom artifacts, paragon chests, extracting DNA, ...) so, for example: having more luck might not effect your chance of getting a doom artie, but might effect the DNA success chance.

From the last time i was studying the formulas, I can say that luck is not linear - the doom artifact chance is logarithmic, combined with all sorts of variables. That means that increasing luck from 500 to 1000, isn't the same as 2000 to 2500. In rough estimate, getting your luck to about 1500-2000, makes the most difference for the effort that you put in. Having 5000 luck is still better than 4000, in most cases, but it's a lot more effort, and the benefit you get is less significant.

I hope I didn't get anything wrong when i was exploring the scripts that calculate luck, but from what i seen, there is no luck cap.
