I am about 10 days in now. Yay me for double digits days on the shard. I still don't fully understand the whole stat cap thing. So right now I am at 125/125/50 (due to a lot of help from a lot of people). If I understanding everything correctly, I need to buy 10 of the +5 stat cap increase thing to allow me to use a +50 stat increase PS. Then after that I either have to train and get +1 stat every 15 minutes or use essence. To me does not make sense but I want to make sure I have it right before I waste more resources. Thank you all.

On a side note, I have been advertising this server and more importantly the community of this server to a lot of my friends. Hopefully we will see more people coming back to UO and to this shard.

The stat cap is 300 total and 125 in each to start with. So that's how you're able to get to 125-125-50.

There are 2 things needed to increase beyond that.

There is scroll that allows you to go above the 300 total stats, and there is a scroll that allows you to increase the individual stats above 125.

So if you wanted to get your 2 stats from 125 to 150 you'd need to get a scroll +50 that increases the overall cap from 300 to 350 and then you'd also need the +5 scroll to the individual stats that allow you to go over 125.

I hope this helps and if you need a scroll I have a +40 overall stat scroll available for sale. Haha! I actually have 2 so...

Just a clarification... there is no set order to which you buy first or last.

(All examples based on the stats you said you were at now... 125/125/50)


You can buy the +Max Stats First, But since your str and dex are already at max, those new point could only be put in INT for now, or keep them in limbo if you lock your INT.)

Or you can start hording up the +5 Individual stat scrolls first. Lets say you choose to start with Dex (Which is what I would recommend) You could now raise your stats to 125/130/45. (Since your cap is still 300. The 5 new point you CAN add to Dex, has to come from somewhere.)

Hope this show you, that both in conjunction with each other is needed for the best results. But which you buy first, if purely optional.

your response is very helpful and confirmed what I thought I need to do. I would love to start buying those +5 increase to cap first. On the +40 PS, I was told even if I buy a 40, I would still need to buy a 50 later. So most likely will try to make gold for the +50. Know of anyone selling +5 to stat cap?

Wrong, if you add +5 stat scroll, your cap raises!
It costs 50 EDs in Trinsic ED room.
IMHO for beginners best choice to buy 5 +5 stat scrolls and +25 power scroll, so you'll have 25 extra DEX. It helps you to gain 220 DEX. So, you are loosing only +25 power scroll cost (it costs 1 mln gold vs 350-500 EDS for +50) finally.

Grundick's suggestion is a very good one. It is also what I would recommend. The extra 25 dex is extremely useful early in the game.

A majority of people don't have a +50. Most of the players I know have a +40 or +45. I've been here 5 years and didn't get a +50 until a few months ago and only because I got a really good deal on it.

The price of a +50 is 500ed in the ED room or you maybe be able to find it for 400-450ed on a vendor if someone loots one. A +40 scroll is only about 2-3 million gold (40-60ed) which is basically 1/10th of the cost. You get your 25 extra for Dex and some leftover to add Str.

As Grundick said...the bare minimum you need is the +25 for Dex. Str gives you some extra HP and adds a little damage so it's not really necessary per se.

thank you for all the guidance on this post. I also just learned today that dex has a hard cap at 150. Is that right?
What if I buy a +25 stat PS, then 5 of the +5 stat cap raise and put all in dex that would put my dex cap at 150. After that I buy another 5 of the +5 to stat cap and put in str, then buy another +25 stat PS, would that work?

No, the +25 scrolls don't stack.

Many people buy TH for 2000 EDs instead of BC for 200 EDs because of extra 5 STR

This auction a TH will probably go for about double that. I will be surprised if it sells for under 200 mil.

Sure, but those folks already have a full set of relayers. The +50 stat scroll is a poor investment when you're still building to 220 dex.

Guys, i mean next things:
When you buy BC (600 EDs NPS) instead of SoP(200 EDs NPS), you pay 200 EDs for 1extra STR!
When you buy TH(2400 EDs NPS) instead of BC, you pay 360 EDs for 1 extra STR...
When you buy 5 +5 stat and +50 Power Scroll, you pay MAX 30 EDs for 1 STR.
IMHO it is reasonable to buy +50 instead +40 on stage 2.
PS: Stage 1 is for beginners to buy +25 DEX.

Considering everything that was shared here I think better to try +40PS versus the +25PS. Maybe I will get lucky on my next trip to Gauntlet
