Excelsior

On Monday September 5th beginning at 1300 shard time (9am eastern) DRG will be hosting its first shard event.

To keep it memorable we will be giving away a Huge Bag of Holding to the winner.

However, with a prize as grand as this I decided to make it very hard. This event is definitely not for the meek or mild, it is designed to challenge you in a great many ways. Thus I created a maze, and not just any maze but a maze consisting of several houses located all over the shard. How many you ask, so many that as its creator I expect a good portion of people to quit because of its evil design, hidden traps, and puzzles.

In each house there is a book with a puzzle in it. Solve the puzzle to get a single letter answer. The final house has a house to house password gate and you will have to unscramble the letters you collected from the puzzles along the way to make a single word, in English, to gain access to the final house and collect your prize. There will also be a stop along the way where you can grab a participation prize.


This is the starting Maze house and there is a Large Book detailing the event, and it only gets harder the farther in you proceed. I highly recommend you stop and read the book, there is only 1 so don't blame us if you failed to read it.

I love this idea! And what an amazing amount of time and effort you put into the houses! I will be there in the beginning, but honestly don't expect to finish lol. We'll have to see which wins Frustration or Stubborness!
You DO know we all expect you to walk us through after the event, just to prove it can be done! lol

As its creator, it took me more than an hour to walk though it to get to the end three weeks ago. I also have a short term memory disability. so after 3 weeks I honestly forgot how to do many parts of it as well.

Seen those buildings when was wondering around, even looked in and saw ports to the other houses, but had no patience in trying to solve these pathways i could have advantage . Anyway great and hard work.

I went to a couple of the mazes and they were confusing for sure! Hope your event goes great! Lots of hard work went into it!

One went up next door to me, and I was puzzled at the design. This explains the uniqueness.

I had pondered the idea of converting both of my Rune Libraries into a Giant Maze, even mapped out some details. That is actually how I got the 1 way house to house gate teleporters to work the way they do!

You can hide house to house gates UNDER floor tiles if you are patient enough! There was a time you could lay out carpet and then remove part of the floor under it to create a trap hole that was totally invisible... Set a house to house gate under the hole and they will never know what hit them... lol

It is kind of mean to set a house to house gate 1 way teleporter as a trap hiding under a floor tile or carpet...

Looks like a heap of fun... potentially torture lol... I won't be there, but have fun all. Cool idea, and solid effort building it all.

Will you leave it in place after the event for a while in case players who couldn't be there want to try and solve it?
