Hi there

I'm a spaniard (so I apologise in advance about my english) "band new" to UO.
I say this because I used to RP on a spanish shard back in early 2000s using sphere0.51 and this is quite different (luck? low reagents? bonus? new lands and skill? what on earth happened here?). Yeah, pretty old school (Lostlands had just been released, you can imagine...)

My chars were kinda jack of all trades, because at that time, using that emu, on that particular version, you can do whatever you whatever you want even when you don't have enough skill level (there was a chance, 1/1000000000000 or whatever to succeed). I spent may hours playing this game and I loved it. I'm pretty bad on PVP and average on PVM... but life is tough and it's funny this way. I was found this shard on the ranks and sound quiet, friendly and "safe" for me.

Right now you could find me on the training room rising skills/stats and escorting NPC between cities to make money while reading the wiki/forum and trying to get up to date. I have explored the world a little bit and gates to "main sites" are quite useful.

I have seen messages on the global chat, and discord on the website. What is the main way to get in touch with people (is IRC still relevant these days?).

See you out there.

Welcome to Excelsior. The shard is somewhat quiet but extremely helpful. You are doing the right thing by reading up on Wiki. If you are not able to find the answer on wiki you can try global chat in game. I tried that when I was newer and people were very helpful.

Thank you Zanzi,

Things are quite different, lot of new systems in the game and many shard customizations but I'm getting used to it. :D

No PVP on this shard so your perfectly safe that way.
Hanging out in the training room is always fun, and good way to get combat skill up (as str/dex as well) Also don't forget to check out the new player room (accessible in TC - blue portal east of world teleport) to get some equipment before heading to the new player dungeons.

You can also PM "Matrix". He runs a discord server that is non-official but most of the shard is there and you can have extra help.

Oh, thank you very much both.

I will join the discord for sure and check about those trainers.
