Item layer change

If I use an Item layer change on a weapon to make it into a cape, what weapon qualities carry over and which are lost? I mean I am assuming life and mana leech for example don't carry over? Is there any way to see what I keep and what I lose without investing the 500ed to find out?

A weapon that becomes a peice of clothing (not a peice of armor) would omit:

Examples:
Hit types - Hit Life Leech, Hit Lighting, Hit Lower Defense, etc.
Weapon type - Fencing/Swords/Mace Fighting/Archery/Best Weapon Skill
The name (if it is not a customized name)
- <> Mage Skill
Spell Channelling
Durability
Attack Speed
Range
Etc

I would suggest looking at clothing/armor when thinking about which skills could and could not translate from weapon to clothing or visa versa. If you have not seen it on a piece of clothing or on a peice of armor then chances are it will not carry over.

it would be nice to get a full list of stuff that wont carry over and of do and dont on this item layer change :)

like is it possible to turn a piece of armor into a weap ,then lvl it and turn it into a piece of armor again?
ofc if you only add things like more stats, more regens, resists, dmg inc, hci, dci and sdi

everything should carry over this way right? i mean if its possible at all to do this

I've wondered about this myself some, and I assumed it is possible. It would be nice to turn a mages inquisition piece into a weapon, level it, and then turn it back into armor.
For me doing this wouldn't be worth the ED cost. [edit] My armor plan only has 2 items changed with item deeds. Omni magus clothing, and 1 weapon turned to clothing. With this all my melee abilities are capped (except reflect damage) and all my magic abilities are capped. with a few mages inquisition pieces. With a few good jewelry pieces and other armor, resists are capped and then it is just a matter adding more stats with all the rests. So spending the ED on another levelable weapon just for a few more stats/hits/regen really isn't worth the cost for me. Of course if you got the money and want the best gear in game, have at it!

When using a layer change deed, do you get to select a new name for the item or does it just get the name of the new item type like fancy shirt or cloak?

I think it would be better to list the ones that do carry over so you know which ones to put on.....

Stats- Str Dex Int, HPs, Stam, Mana
Regens- HP Stam Mana
Hit chance Increase
Defense Chance Increase
Reflect Physical Dmg
Damage Increase
Spell Damage Increase
Swing Speed Increase
Resists
Faster Casting/Faster Casting Recovery
lower Mana cost/lower reagent cost
enhance potions
self repair
nightsight
luck
durability bonus

I think that pretty much covers all the ones that actually carry over from a weapon to a article of clothing. and I agree with the last poster all you really need is one item converted over once you start getting your GOC gear to max resists/hci/dci/ssi/di/sdi/fc/fcr I would like to see someone with a template built on a full set of goc gear and doom arties for best min maxing of points spent ..... max all three stats and regens and hps stam mana I think would be a given from there Im not so sure

i have a butcher's resolve and it's suppose to be the best item to re-layer. the only thing that makes it so great is the 75% in di and the ssi of 35%. we now know the cap on di is 100% so in one item you have 3/4 of the di you need. with the 35% in ssi and a headband of power (di 15%, ssi 35%) you pretty much almost maxed out di and are pretty much capped on ssi (depending on your dex). i think the cap on weapon speed is 1.25 s, so once you hit that speed your pretty much maxed. what is nice is that you can level that butcher's resolve to include str bonus, dex bonus, plus what ever suits your taste. i saw a cutlass that has crazy damage. captain jack sparrow's cutlass. i still have yet to find it. :) i hear you have to fish to get it. :)

Its 100% that you can get from gear and 300% with magic and specials.
