Codex update - afk at a spawn

Post by Undertaker »
Codex update:
Change to the AFK rule, if you are killing spawn (leveling weapons or doing a champ or just killing regular spawn) you need to be at the keyboard at all times. No 10 minute buffer applies here.
ok so no more bathroom breaks, or glass of water while killing stuff... what about looking at the forums? example; I am doing a champ, an its a slower champ, so i go on the internet to browse thru the forums... does that count towards "afk" ?

i dont see it does, but it doesnt hurt to be cautions (just makin sure something like this doesnt cause a prob down the line)

If one needs to get a drink or use the bathroom then one needs to move away from the targets, remove yourself from war mode and hide (or recall away if it is safer). Unless of course you can view your screen from the kitchen or you have a portable device. :) Otherwise, you are taking a big risk. If you would like to browse the forums, you may make your internet browser window half size so that you can have constant view of your client screen. I know that when I am at my computer I transform every window to a size that will never block my view of the client, in case there is a page or a need to be handled. I know that multi-tasking is in the nature of many people so try to use the window resizing technique. That way you have many other options right in front of you while still able to see your client screen.

Another AWESOME alternative is getting a second video card and monitor, I like having UO up on one screen and my playlist or Firefox (ftw) on the other.

Plus there's so many people who have never seen multi-monitor computers, so when your buddies come over they'll go, "zomg wth i want one!".

I am sure that +Colibri will agree with this idea.

Think of it this as if, you would have to hold the TAB button to be in war mode. Can't keep that button pressed unless if you're there.

I like blaze's idea. With my 3 monitors i can have my client, browser and mail client, plus msn messenger, all open at the same time. And yes I can confirm that whoever comes to visit will go "whoaaa you're uber geekishly cool" (Most video cards now-a-days have 2 output ports, and if you have enough room to drag out an old CRT from the basement that's all going to work, or you can buy a cheap used LCD screen, here an old 17'' lcd is valued no more than 50€).

u know, soon as the 2nd monitor was mentioned... i look over (next to me) as my wife (june) is using 2 monitors... lol... so i had a super long day at work with little sleep :woot: ANNDDD not to mention +rayne's idea to having half screens so incase u get a pm or die, u can attend your uo char... im sure others have had it where your reading a deep forum convo an come back, an find yourself dead (mostly at a champ) an its only happend once where my corpse decayed... haha never again will i let that happen... but anyways, Thanks again guys, just wanted to "make sense" in my own head

actually, by clicking one single button in the options menu (under mouse tab) you can't use tab to TOGGLE in and out of war mode.

 yes yes, but this is not the point. You can stick a penny in the key, you can use razor, easyuo, client options, but that's not the point.
