Stories for the upcoming Christmas Holiday

Hey there! Since a very significant time of the year is coming up where many get together to celebrate life, family, and opportunity, I was thinking about how I got to where I am in life. How fortunate I am, how I got here, and where I will be in the future. Haha, I guess you can call it a residual Thanksgiving/pre-Christmas mindset. But anyway, while I was thinking about this and checking the forums, I had an idea of what might be a cool thread to start up in the forum...

I'd really like to see some stories about players helping players on this shard. Stories like when someone was stuck somewhere and a player ran in to help out, stories like when someone helped gear-up a player just starting, and stories like when a player escorted another to an area of interest through a dangerous area. Stories like how a player, that doesn't have much him/herself, giving decent equipment to help out another. Stories like how an older player brought a bunch of younger players to a more difficult champ and played the healer role. Stories like that...

So, I think it may be cool for us to share some stories about players who helped us out in the past, or recently. Players who may not have had the wealth or skill to optimally provide without sacrifice or deficit, but did anyway...

Who was your biggest helper, and what did he/she do to help you out?

BolO. Although there were countless others.

BolO was the first person i ever met on Ex. When she saw that i was a young player she handed me her powerscroll book and said "Take what you need", and so i did, using several of her 120 scrolls without knowing what they were worth. She also gave me a complete etheral suit and a decent set of weapons, she never wanted anything in return. I didn't see her for a looooooooooooong time after that and eventually quit the game only to return again, just a month ago. Several of my old friends helped me out to get back on my feet, especially these (In no specific order):

Leviathan & Slavery <:3
Ra'Met <:3

Aaaaaaand ...

guess what ?

BolO ! I did not expect to see her again, but there she was ... and handed me her powerscroll book again xD <:3

I also want to thank Colibri here again for being simply awesome. I have yet to meet the server admin who is as polite and helpful as he is. Coli ! I know i can be a pain sometimes, but i hope you forgive me. XD I won't ever forget the first time i saw him, back then he quite literally payed every new player a visit. I was amazed at the sheer dedication in that moment. Uh, but enough of that ... i'm making a fool of myself. lol

Even though i don't like christmas much, i still thhink this is a good opportunity to get some thank you's out.

Lets hear some more !

Thanks to Tenebrae for saying, "check out this shard I found".. which is how I ended up here :P

AND:

Well when I started here many moons ago, I made a friend named Shaft. He hasn't been around in a long time :(

Anyway, he would give me taming BOD's to do for him, and he'd pay me to complete them. So I was able to make some gold AND get my taming up at the same time :) He was definitely someone I wouldn't forget.
After doing the BODs for him for a few days, and doing then super quick, he told me he really appreciated how fast I was getting them done, and then helped me out by giving me armor and a great bow. He introduced me to some of his close friends and well, the rest is history.

So thanks Shaft wherever you are. ;)

ALSO:

I want to give a shout out to Licos, who's been such an awesome guildy/friend. He's helped sooo many players who've come along whether part of the guild or not. I've seen him just give away amazing gear to new players, not even considering whether that they might leave in a week. He's also helped me out when Ive needed resources or an extra hand in making weapons/armor or whatever the case may be. He's very resourceful and reliable and a great all around person. I'm glad to have him in this ancient guild  ....oh, and he brought my rl cats into UO for me. *thumbs up*

ALSO:

Krazy G is the sweetest. Just had to throw that out there.

love,
Llexa

I'd like to thank Samuel Oior, Not a well known player, But A good friend when I first joined Excelsior, took me under his wing and we battled together, he shared everything we got, Regardless off me hardly doing anything lol.

He introduced me to CTH which leeds me to my next thank you and that goes to Highroller! fantastic bloke! willingness to share knowledge and help you out with anything he can. Even to new players who aren't even in the same guild!

Another thank you has to go out to Undertaker, we battled alongside each other, even though my fighting skills are totally lame we always had a good laugh at things. So that kind of gave things a good feel about being on the shard knowning people are there who you get on well with.

But towards the end, before I took a break My biggest thank you has to go out to two people, you might have seen them on most the time, but never had the pleasure off speaking to them, after all they are spainish and speak very little english, Cloe and Norak, Even before I joined GOG they both had such an amazing ora about themselfs that made me want to learn more about them. I joined there guild and I can't say I've been in a better guild than there guild! everything is shared and battles were thought as a team and good friendships were made! Sadly since I've come back CLoe and Norak are hardly around these days =(

But i'm back now, hopefully for longer this time, and I'm looking forwarding to meeting the era of people that are playing here and I am sure I will make many new friends =))

Bigger thank you to the staff for making Excelsior the best shard out there!!!

I'd like to thank the total boredom of graduate school downtime for my finding this shard. It was a mix of me beating the PC version of Final Fantasy 7 for the 30th time, playing both Runescape and Maplestory for a combined total of about 3 hours (btw, Runescape totally snaked most of the UO ideas and concepts), and coming to the reality that a town of six thousand (where half the population is the total number of attending students of the university) has absolutely nothing to do...

So I logged into Excelsior surprised that I could use a skillball to get my taming to 100, right out the gate. Then I met Llexa for the first time, when she handed me a FC -1/Spellchanneling petrified elven composite bow (Which I still have) and an all 70s leather armor suit. I learned with this bow that hit areas are not a good idea for newbs. She also gave me my first Cu Sidhe. She has been a big help ever since. She is always helping out the newcomers, I know this because I always have to wait for her to finish when getting ready to go do a champ or a parox run (Have to wait for women everywhere, even cyberspace =D ). She also made three bios for me and helped me with my first lvl 70 artifact...I pretty much owe my speedy character development to her help. You rock!

I also remember Dark Tyranny (No...not Dark Tranny, Tyranny). He gave me lots of pets and joined me a few times hunting and champing. Haven't seen him for some time now...

...and yes, Blaze and Krazy are awesome. =)

The staff members are too, but that goes without saying...

-----------------------------

Anyone else have any stories or shout-outs about people who helped you out in the beginning, or even now? This can be a fun thread, and you never know what could come from sharing.

-Licos
P.S. OMG I just remembered…Llexa, remember what I said about Lord Anes? XD

Wow... where could I even begin?

When I first joined Excelsior, I joined without the slightest inclination that I would receive the type of welcome that I did. Most servers, when you join and log-in, you don't get much of a reception at all. Upon logging in, I received dozens of "Welcome, Orbit!". It was, shocking, really. I cannot just list one player as the sole person who helped me the most, it's just impossible. So I'd like to list a few of the people who've contributed greatly to me, and how so..

~Link... The very first member of the shard to greet me, personally. He gave me a quick tour around the shard, showing me places I need to travel to in order to gain a foothold and build my character up. He also showed me around his castle, which he was quite proud of. I ended up receiving around 7 or 8 Power Scrolls ranging from 110-120. He handed out a lot of armor and weapons, with random deco for my first house. Thanks, Link!

~Samael... Sam has got to be the kindest person I've met here yet, and was also the first person to invite me to a guild in Excelsior. He also gave me my first set of plat weapons and some plat gear as well. He was always ready to lend a hand when I got myself into trouble while hunting, and always willing to offer advice when I needed it most. Sam have proven to be a great friend here at Excelsior. Thanks ever so much, Sam. :dance

~Striker... Hehe.. the irony under which I met Striker. I was stuck in Fan Dancer Dojo, with my corpse laying behind 2 Succubi and a Bally and my pets all dead. I begged for help in open chat and Striker (along with Chyna!) answered the call. Striker got their first, ressed me, got my pets back up and to full health and then hit me with a whammy. He handed me my very first noble, for free. I'll never forget that, as nobles have proven to be all that they're bragged up to be. Thanks Striker, for your help and assistance throughout my stay here. You're comradery is something much to be desired.

~Lancelot Link... How could I ever forget the crazy naked blue man streaking around town and his house!? Haha.. Lance happened to offer to replace a full set of plat gear when I made the very nubbish mistake of not insuring my gear. He spent hours crafting the gear until he found the "perfect" set for me, and even dyed it along with a few other clothing items I had had as well, to the original colors I had, without even asking!! It was rather impressive that he remembered that much. It's also great to know I have such a good friend in Lance as well as the open slot for me in BMG that he has promised to always keep open for me.

Kellsar Wolf... Alas, Kellsar and I are no longer guildmates, but he still has proven to be a great friend over time. Kellsar and I are the ones who initially started GMD, aside from assistance from my fiance and co-guild leader Jaydacia. Kellsar has helped me, more than anyone else on Excelsior. We've spent countless hours hunting, buying/selling items, as well as just talking. Kellsar donated my first few pets.. my first real amount of cash.. as well as many other things along the way. Good luck Kellsar, no matter where your travels take you, my friend.

_______________

Aye, I could list sooo many more.. and granted some of these stories are quite cheesy.. But I felt like sharing my experiences with some of the friendliest players on the shard, and those that helped me get to where I am today..

Great thread.. =)

Bumped! Come on guys, two more days until Christmas. Share some stories or quick examples of how some players helped you in the beginning of your Excelsior experience, or continue to help you today. This might turn out to be a cool thread to look back on later.

As I get ready to celebrate my 3rd Christmas here on Excelsior, I do want to thank the several individuals who have made this a most enjoyable ride. First and foremost, +Colibri and +Rayne. No matter what unique items and quest/events are on this shard, they are the real reason this shard sets itself apart from the rest. Secondly, many thanks to Zodart, the only player I have seen with the title of Champion of Light on this shard. He was very grracious and patient with this newbie as I tried to get back in the game that I left over 4 years earlier. He answered every question I threw at him and there were a lot. I met him when he quickly answered my call for help as I found out the hard way that a newbie should never walk into the trogladyte cave without a care in the world. I have not seen Zodart for a while now but somehow I feel he is still around looking out for the masses, just in another form. Let's hope so. Third on my list is another player that is no longer here but was instrumental in my growth here as I think she was to many. Bell Nightshade/Morgan Storm was always ready to help a new player with items, information and to help complete a quest that maybe was a bit too advanced for that player. I know I was just one of many who were priveldge to receive her generosity. Last, but cerainly not least is Llexa. I consider her as much a part of Excelsior as I do +Colibri and +Rayne. I am not sure there is nothing that she doesn't know or hasn't done and she has greatly helped me out along the way and like Zodart, has always answered any question I have throw her way. I know there are many others and If i have overlooked you, it was not intentional. I would like to close with a personal shout out to some dear old guildmates of mine that I haven't seen and heard for a long time and had to leave the game for real life reasons. To Rote Leather, Sagefire and Daisy, you are truly missed. And to Zell, where ever you are, this is for you....Yarrrrr!!!
