Hello Excelsior!

I'd like to extend a thank you, to +Veritas, for designing this extensive, and very well designed, event.

Sadly, despite being here for 3 months.. this was my first shard event I was able to attend. =/

But I can say with absolute certainty, that it was awesome! When Veri designates it a level 5 event, he apparently isn't joking.. hehe

On a more.. professional note.. The amount of complaints made regarding the event are understandable.. the lag was indeed tremendous. I managed to participate by playing on a much less than "sub-par" PC.. this thing is ancient! But as a fellow member of this shard, I think that some of the complaints were a tad bit harsh, and rude. Another member made the following statement:

"You people are complaining about a great event Veritas put together, on a shard you don't even PAY to play on."

Well.. that's not necessarily word for word, but I got the gist of it.. Point is, we all have a right to our opinions here (I think I've said that enough!), but to openly "whine" about an event a staff member has taken a lot of time to put together (when they didn't even have to!), is just disrespectful. All I ask, is next time.. just cool it.. :dance

Back to the event!

I think everyone who participated should thank +Veritas for the event and the cool prizes!

Sooooo.. post away, Excelsior!

Yep I'm sure it was fun, although I wasn't attending :D

As for the lag, well at least i found the bottleneck. The upload was at a normal level, i'd say approx 1-2mbit, and the server was using 0-1% CPU. But it was the router that didn't let thru that much data. Something I'll get on upgrading when the holidays are over, and hopefully it will make future events with a ton of critters to kill, more enjoyable :)

Indeed it was Colibri...

Maybe something was hogging your bandwidth?

Or do you have something in mind as to what was causing it?

________

Come on Excelsior, with dozens of participants at the event, surely some of you want to thank Veritas for his hard work!

I said my thanks at the end of the fight when it could be said personally, then again he might have mistaken that as a thanks for the stuff he was passing out. So again thanks, for putting this together for the players to do.

As for the rest of what you were saying, don't take this wrong but does it help to complain about complaining? That's a question and not a complaint by the way. It's one I have to ask myself from time to time when I catch myself.

Aye, some people did thank him.. but as you said, that could have easily been misconstrued as as 'thank you' for the rewards.

And while we're on the topic of misunderstandings: My post was in no way a "complaint". I was making a point, and then drawing my request from that. I was only asking that people think before they speak, and show +Veritas a bit more respect for what he does for this shard, instead of complaining about it.
The same would apply for my guildies if they were to post on our guild site, throwing a fit about the free items they receive, or new recruits, or to maintain similarity: complaints about a guild event.

Excelsior is a great place to be.. and it's all provided by the staff who run it. And the best thing? It's free. The biggest point to be made here is, had the event been run by +Colibri, I seriously doubt most of those complaints would have been made. A lot of the complaints made last night, in my mind, crossed the line...

We're not here to debate the controversy surrounding the event last night; but to pay homage to +Vertias for his continued contributions and great events he plans for us. So let's get on with it..
