This article was a fun read. Some truth in it cannot be denied. If only there were a little more fact rather than just speculation to back it up. I can totally see how video game and addiction works. I have been addicted to playing at various degree for many years. Most of the time though i have been able to step away for long periods of time before things got to much for me. The game I was most addicted to and will not play anymore was DAoC :dance (Dark Age of Camelot). I will admit that if I don't carefully monitor my time, UO will get to be too much for me. I do enjoy the game even though most times it is doing senseless acts for virtual rewards :woot:

I see it going this way. those who aren't wrapped up in addiction will enjoy the article and see the truth of it. Those who are deep into the addiction or who use games such as UO as their crack don't realize it but the enjoyment of the game alters their dopamine levels and they are enslaved to the game. Those will be the players who are in total denial and will flame information like this every chance they get. Because they don't have a problem and it is just a stupid game and I can quit anytime, :verymad: or at least that is what they will say!

anyhow, thanks for sharing.... I enjoyed the article!

What are your thoughts? Do you see any of these creepy tactics present in Ultima? Be it OSI or "free shards"?
Heck yeah!
Levelable weapons --> item layer change.
Pets losing stat points and ointment grinding
Months of breeding to get maxed pets
Mages inquistion quest
oh, and don't forget the weekly lottery!
