I am having a difference of opinion with someone. Since it was viewed as an exploit, and since been fixed, entering the crypts as a ghost; wouldn't the same be said for having a character with a bracelet of binding at the portal map vendor? It is my point of view that it bypasses game mechanics and thus would be considered an exploit. Any word from staff on this?

Posting the Portal Map at a vendor is a kindness to players who cannot obtain it themselves, and I support that thoroughly. However posting a character with a BoB is a bit of an exploit. The Map has a decay timer for a reason. Only my opinion though.

oh are they sitting afk with a bracelet on in the portal map area?? weird never thought about that. that is kind of erm.. cheap playing. then again, bracelet of binding is sorta cheap playing. you can use them in doom, and i wonder if you can use them in the player newbie dungeon to get organics. also, can you use them to get into the newbie champ spawn, you know the one with 4 hour respawn? ah well i did use it to make money when you couldn't recall out of fel...that time when you couldn't. portal maps aren't really that hard to get. one night we got 3 of them in about an hour.

Thats incredably lucky anarchy, doesn't make it the standard, and they are difficult to get, no mater how much luck you've had with it, no one has killed slaarion more times than me. I can't prove but I have a feeling it is true.

I've had at least four maps in my bag before, so I know exactly where yo uare coming from, but thats the exception, not the standard



as far as having using the bracelet of binding to access the portal map room How about you page a GM in game and report this person instead of dragging meaningless drama all over the forums

Meaningless drama? I mentioned no names and only posted here to see if it was only me that considers this an exploit of game mechanics. I had indeed sent in a page, as well, prior to the posting though. Thanks for taking the time to troll.

So, to answer the question...

Keeping an alt player/account at the portal map location so people can bracelet in is not allowed and is occasionally checked for by staff...

If a player just so happens to use the map and his/her friends want to use the vendor stone...they can bracelet over by the player. Basically, there can be no attempt to create a permanent or longer lasting alternate method of using that stone without having to obtain the portal map first. This is indeed bypassing the mechanics of the shard and will be considered an exploit.

I will also say that while I and the other staff members appreciate players bringing up issues and exploits, I would personally stay away from turning them into public discussions on the forum or in global. Reason being is that it opens the door to unnecessary argument, especially if names are named or if players feel threatened by the "accuser" (even if no names are mentioned). Stick to pages, and we will use our chain of command to alert the higher-ups about the issue to be solved.

why is it considered an exploit? (mind you, i didnt even know how bracelets worked until this very post.)

it doesnt give real advantages to players using it over those waiting for the map to drop: there are so many squirrels around, the pet market cant be monopolize by hiding portal maps/exploiting anymore i guess. (i wouldnt bother to get ported over for a ledger/ring, given the amt of notes one needs, waiting one day or two wouldnt be a problem after so much time collecting the notes..)

Why not put imp pets elsewhere, on a more accessible vendor, and make the map a repeatable quest reward?

The mechanic just urges ppl to farm Slaarion for another item other than notes & horn of defeat. A mechanic which makes you only farm more is just boring and meaningless imo

i'm not trying to make anyone mad or anything, but i think this post is legit. he's asking if it's an exploit to the game by using the bracelet to zip over to the vendor stone, sometimes the gm's are busy and can't (i usually get an answer within 5 mins) get an answer. calan didn't mention any names, nor did he even mention what time it happened. in fact he was asking for a staff input. thankfully veritas answered the question. thanks veritas for confirming that, cause i was gonna do that while ago, and charge people for it. i'm thankful now that i didn't do that. lol

i always thought the chain of command was this with questions.

page gm and stat your question.
if you don't get an answer post on forum.

But he paged a GM for a reason, he find it to be an exploit so then theres really no question about it. This isnt a question that needs to be answered immediately so therefore it is just like gwen said to be dramatic. If you paged a GM already why post something on forums afterwards? He already figured it an exploit making this post pointless

When I paged staff on it, prior to posting here, there was no staff available. Hence the post here. Again, not naming names and not pointing fingers at anyone saying "hey! it's them!". Was just looking for staff's point of view on this and to see if it was the same as mine in an expedient manner. As I said to Gwen, thanks for taking time out for the trolling. The only drama on the topic is being caused by you two.

And like i said this wasnt a question that needed immediate answering. Staff would take care of it in due time like everyone's questions and problems. But if you already made up your mind that its exploiting therefore paging GM's then why do a post? Because there really isnt a reason to if staff has already been paged to take care of it. Thats why i call it dramatic, not because you point fingers but because your trying to call attention to something that already has a page on it to be taken care of therefore making this post unneccesary.

blah blah blah. Man, there is so much drama all across the shard now its really annoying, defiantly has contributed to my cutting down of game hours. Can we get this thread locked?
