Animal Breeding
Animal Breeding
I really enjoy breeding pets and spending huge amounts of time training them up. Is it true we cant breed pets past Generation 10 or pets who are above level 42?
Is there any future plan to change this limitation, even just for regular pets since the Imprisoned ones are so strong already? I'd love to see if I could breed wolves to be stronger then the Imprisoned pets which are so expensive.
BTW i like the limit on the number of times animals can breed, its a challenge I'll be planning around.

Re: Animal Breeding
imprisoned pets will always do more dmg than any other pet (given the possibility to swap squirrels/ferrets & dogs based on the mob resistances) having both pack instinct & double damage (under the damage tab you can see 100% physical dmg + 100% fire/poison dmg).
they never lose stats upon death, so you can face onehitkill mobs and not worry about it.
low end ones (sub 300 str) are more than enough for anything really, and getting a 5 pack of those shouldnt cost more than 3 millions (which you should get easily enough with the rat quest in newbie dungeon).
You can breed anything you like really, yet i think the best pets to stick with are Noble Steeds (for the movement spd & pack instinct), Mules (for poison immunity & backpack), Imp. Pets (for dmg & static stats) & human bios (for tanking) [i'm a fan of imp. pets and bios to a lesser extent, thought i own only imp. pets so far

Re: Animal Breeding
Gen 10 and lvl 43+ pets cant breed. However their max level can be 45 only TRAINED to lvl 42 and they can still breed. If you get to gen 9 you breed your gen 9 to a gen 1 and then a gen 9 to the gen 2 you get and then gen 9 to the gen 3 you get and the gen 4 is pretty much as good as the gen 9 you started with. Called back breeding. That assumes you don't get a bunch of sterile babies which I almost always do when I back breed. And lets not even talk about the fail rate on maxed pets. The extreme measures taken to make breeding harder have made me pretty much stop breeding pets altogether. Which means I rarely play on this shard anymore.

Re: Animal Breeding
Yep, I just failed twice to breed a gen 1 and a gen 5 noble, far from being maxed. You are not the first vet to give up on the shard. I am sorry for this.

Re: Animal Breeding
Well its a matter of conflict of policies. On the one hand the pet breeding has been made so difficult its not worth the pain of doing it anymore and on the other hand you have albino squirrels (and ferrets and dogs) that while not easy to get, once you have them are better than any pet bred up. If the idea of making it so unbelievablely hard to breed pets is to balance the game then how do you have imprisoned pets in the same game? Sorry I just can't see any reasoning here that explains it. I mean I supported early changes to breeding, I even suggested some of them, but the last 2 or more increases in the fail rate and the changes (or unbelievable bad luck) that had me getting a 50% or higher rate of steriles the last 7 times I back bred a breeding line has driven a stake through the heart of any fun I ever got from pet breeding on this shard. I have too much time and effort invested to leave the shard for good but there is no point in me playing here on a daily basis any longer.
Re: Animal Breeding
It's a shame because I love the idea of investing months breeding and training pets (it seems too easy to train pets here but that's probably just my opinion) until I have a pet which is stronger than the stongest Imp pet. I really hope our opinions are at least considered regarding the current breeding system. Fingers crossed.

Re: Animal Breeding
Well you consider I have maxed out mules, nobles, ferrets, rabbits, swamp dragons, hell hounds, ice hounds, frenzied ostards, snakes, cu sidhes, scorpions, emerald cats and I came pretty close on dragons and hell cats and ridgebacks. Giving it all up at this point is quite difficult. I even had the mules, nobles, cus and ostards at 1100 hits each. But especially with the ungodly fail rate and sterile rate I can probably get get a pack of 5 imprisoned squirrels faster than I can max out a breed of pets now.

Re: Animal Breeding
well seeing that it took me about a month to get 5 impris, and it take over a couple of months does make it sorta off balance. yeah sterile rate is terrible. i turned in 4 deeds today; only came away with 1 gen 3 breedable.
heres my question:
you really can only breed 2 pairs every ?? hours/mins. anyone know how long you have to wait?
also, you can't breed anymore if you got x amount in delay already. how many is x?
if i have a bunch of mules in delay, and they can't breed; can i toss them in a garbage chest at brit, and breed more?

Re: Animal Breeding
Well unless its changed again its 2 pairs every 6 hours per character. As for numbers on breeding hold I haven't seen that. Its either new or a factor of the fail rate that if there is a limit I haven't reached it because I fail 80 to 90% of the time when I try to cross pets. And the fact of course that I don't bother to try to cross much anymore...

Re: Animal Breeding
k ty. yeah i think because of the impris pets they need to bump down the delay timer on breeding. maybe, that will balance it a little better. that way you have plenty of back ups if your team died a lot. who knows. but thanks again.

Re: Animal Breeding
I only breed the mules, but have to agree with highroller on pretty much evrything he says. I have been trying to breed four dif pairs of maxed mules for over a week now. thats two breeds a day each, and have failed every time. I have been successful on some lesser breeds with other characters on my account, which will hopefully keep me in the game a little longer... but as high said, eventually i will get steriled out of the breeding game. It took me close to a year to max the mules from base tamed mules gotten from the MOA spawns. I could probably have gone faster with a stricter schedule, but, its supposed to be fun and rewarding... so I took my time, and have reached the top, but.. the reward seems to be sterile pets and intence struggle to get a successful breeding... add on top of that, the people that whine and complain about the prices of your months of labor and expence.... paying for the babies, paying for gender change deeds etc etc...
You can also use ointments to max a pair of pets, and start out with maxed breeders.. but thats a LOT of oints.. prices on oints used to be a lot lower.. the imprisoned pets are part of the cost of inflation on oints. They cant be bred, so they have to be ointed. It would not break my heart if they were all deleted from the game, giving those of us that like to breed a reason to keep going. I no longer breed nobles, but still have my breeding stock.. competition drives the prices down to the point that its not worth selling them anymore. When i could get 250k for a max noble I felt it was fine, now I see them selling for 100k, and to me, it isnt worth the struggle. Its 75k gold or 3k tokens just for a gender change deed, and in the process of maxing them you will buy several gender change deeds... I am not ranting, nor even upset. it is what it is... I will price my mules, and when i cannot sell any of them at the prices i consider fair, i will stop selling them, just like I did the nobles.
Consider your options well when breeding pets. you will have quite a bit invested by the time you have them maxed. If you max wolves, or dogs, will you be able to sell them? If you are just breeding to max them for yourself, and for the fun, then money isnt really a concern.
