Hogging the Empty Bottle NPCs

Post by Ceara »

Today, I saw someone for over 2 hours buying all empty bottles from all NPCs, including Provisioners, in all towns. If this went on longer, I know not.

He says it's not against the rules to do this, but we suspect he may be putting them all on Exex.

While I don't mind someone gathering once in a while to sell on Exex, it doesn't give many other players the chance to buy from NPCs should they wish to do so.

It's an empty bottle monopoly at this rate. The person we spoke with mentioned selling 104,000 empty bottles in one night and needed to "replenish stock."

Well, no one can keep this up forever, and when they're done you get all the vendors at 999. If you're aggressive enough you can also squeak in and beat their timing sometimes. I dunno, I just get my 60K bottles every few months, and I couldn't imagine doing that all the time. What a boring way to make a living.

It takes alot of time to get them all up to 999. If I take the time to get it up there, I am sure going to buy as much as I can so I dont have to do it again for awhile. 8)

I agree with Tael, the player can't keep this up forever unless he is doing this AFK which would be illegal (resource gathering). However, since you mentioned he responded saying it wasn't illegal then he must have been at his computer thereby making it legal. As you mentioned selling them on ExEx does not make it crime either, but may in fact help players that do not have the time to build up the vendors. I think the highest asking price I've seen bottle for was 10 gp each which is 5 gold more than NPC prices. Still a very healthy profit for bee-tending and if they really want to spend their time gathering bottles rather than other more enjoyable tasks then I think its fine.

Would be nice to have npc's have it set to 999 ready to be sold... Being their not on the vendor stone, and starting at 20 kinda sucks...
