I know you just said you installed the game and greated a character... but any chance you have razor on and ran a macro after this happened? or does this happen right after you log out and back in?

Either a slow computer or a slow connection.
If you are still in Town Center, I suggest you step on the world teleporter (red round thing on the ground) and go to a different town. The town center is very data-intense and perhaps it won't lag elsewhere. Otherwise, could be the connection. We have many people playing from all over the world and from what i hear, it works pretty smoothly for most.

I know its not my computer since its still pretty new and powerful, I am on windows 7 though not sure if that affects it. It happens right when I log in and it happens anywhere I go, if its my connection then theres nothing I can do

Sometimes lag is caused by lots of stuff in one area. That could be Town Center, Makoto Zento and special events. I don't dare attend any events because 90% of the time I can't even move when surrounded by many people. But most of that is probably due to the fact I only have 1 gig RAM.

If your computer is up to snuff and more powerful than mine and you're still having lag, try resetting and restarting your modem and/or router (if you use one).

Stop excess programs running in background that you don't need while playing the game. Each unnecessary program like Divx/Adobe Reader updaters take up valuable memory.

Hey Stack111, hehe sorry couldn't resist that one.

I'm based in the Uk and I noticed that my connection kept dropping and getting really laggy in Brit and other places, so did the normal thing of checking out my Pc for other programs using internet access then did a broadband speed test, lo and behold I had a really bad speed, so then got in touch with my ISP supplier and they did their own test and now a network fault has been reported.

So I would also suggest doing a speed test on your connection incase that might be the fault, it's easy to do and totally free.

Good luck mate.

My Uncle and I who also play have had a similar problem but not as severe The game runs fine but about every 5-10 min it will just freeze for up to 5 seconds. It appears to do this anywhere I am and I am usually in the middle of no where. I also know it is not razor in my case as I do not even have razor installed. I run Ubuntu linux and this is the only shard I can play because razor does not play well with it. My uncle however is on xp with razor and has reported the same effect.

You can get razor working on ubuntu. I use it and it works fine. You need to install dotnet 2.0 via winetricks.

Ya I get lag issues from here in Canada even when I'm isolated in my own home. It isn't constant though. My connection is more than fine, running the best residential connection here, which has very low latency. I guess distance makes a difference, is there an IP I can ping to see what my latency to the game server is? My ping to uoex.net is a little high, but not game-breaking. 3xx ms. Some days are worse than others.
