a bio engineer's rant

i saw today which made me a little upset. normally i sell bio for about 7 mil (that's with counter healing and another special) then i saw on the exex organics are going for 500 ea. i was taken aback and did some bashing (come on i haven't bashed yet first time really), and i thought maybe it would be a good idea for a council of elders or something to establish the price of things. (remember the eds) how can i establish the price. well easy i buy all the organics for about 600+ ea keeping all the organics out of the hands of the other bio engineers, then selling bios at a stupid price of 10 mil ea. (normal high end price). making buying and reselling of bio's near impossible. but for some reason today i went through 20 vials (20k organics) trying to get a 2 special (counter healing as 1 special) and failing (as in 1 special or no specials or 2 without counter healing). so let's add up the cost of that. 20k + 4k (i fail 75% at prowess at 7200 luck)+2k (mental and mimic)+1k = 27k organics @ 350 ea (price i've been buying at)= 9.45 mil cost. so in order to sell a good bio i would have to sell my bios at 10 mil making a 650k profit. makes sense not really. then i see them for 500 ea. what's the price of that bio. a whopping 13.5 mil. yes i could sell junky bios and yes sometimes out of 20k organics i'll maybe get 5: 2 special (with counter healing). so when people raise the price of organics i have to sell higher, and then they call me greedy. do the math. but... if we had someone who regulated the prices (i dunno how they would do this) we wouldn't be at that position. now lucky me i have 20 vials of garbage dna which i can't do anything about. unlike all crafting skills i could chop it down i could at least make bios more affordable for the new players who want them.

so i think maybe i'll just buy all the organics up at a high price and sit on them. when other players complain about not being able to get organics maybe something may change (or the staff will start stocking the exex for us. ).

yes this is a rant but come on people. those people who were yelling at me about it are the same people that were yelling about eds going for 100k ea. do you see why i'm yelling now? did you know i was trading good bio's for 20k organics? did you know i only made a 1k organic profit? of course not.

WELL SAID! What is sad is someone will probably really pay 500 per organic. Come on really 500 per?? That is such an easy quest. The quest was intened im sure to help out young players not make them filthy rich. Sure anarchy and others can afford it but it will just make the price of bios go up in the end. I burned thru 20 vials other day attempting a good mimic and came up empty handed. I refuse to buy organics anymore, i'll just keep turning in large taming bods and crossing my fingers.

I dont make bios to sell.... I never have. I have close to 20-30 vials of gaarbage mimic DNA. Not to mention the fails I get on prowess DNA. I hope that others who make bios hold out for the 200gp mark.

There is many problems with the organics selling for 500gp per. When i was young there were players who would create 5 alts and do the rat quest every 30 mins. If you are online for 5 hours thats 5k organics per account per day.... 2.5 mil at the price of 500 per. Do the quest for 21 days and you come out with somewhere near 52 mil gold..... Ill say that again.... 52 MILLION gold.....

Thats 1100eds or A full GOC suit or a relayered omni magus..... this list goes on.

Anyhoo fingers crossed no one is buying them at that price. I now wait for organics from bods and only make them for other guildies for free. The profit is not worth the time it takes to make bios. Not to mention the fact they are near impossible to sell atm.

Lets hope this sorts it self out or it may kill bio engineering for good.

I think this is primarily due to the fact that Bios are not really that great once you have a few imps ointed up to 400+ hp. They have some uses (kronus for example) but are easily outdone by normal pets (and vastly outdone by ointed imps).

agree!! i used to use bio's for grizzle/neptir/kronus and running around labyrinth or proxy. actually i sold a bio a personal bio of mine for about 5 mil. lol had pet powerscrolls (only 105's)on it too. why... because i like to see people have fun with different pets. plus, i threw in a ball of summoning with 203 charges. lol it died a few times, but most things are immune or they heal themselves, which makes counter poison kind of useless huh or acid rain. they need to take those out because 1 good poison field lasts longer than one counter poison/acid rain. (unless i'm not understanding the special acid rain).

I Have all 130 ps on my bios and they may not kill as fast as team of squirrels but I enjoy equipping them. Leveling weapon for them, and watching them heal themselves faster with bandages as they progress. Sure i have 5 squirrels at 500 hp but I usually don't bring them out. If i can kill it with my bow albeit a longer battle i prefer that to breaking out any pet. I'm really tired of seeing 5 nobles being broke out to kill a nightmare for ex. But that is for a different discussion.
