Experiment: SDI
Experiment: SDI
Inspired myself with the regen graph I made =P, I decided to do an experiment on Spell Damage Increase before going to bed...
This was all done on a monster with resistances at 50 across the board, 50 Resist Spells, and 100 in each stat. I had 100 intelligence, 120 magery, and 120 evaluate intelligence. In addition, I went in 25% increments in Spell Damage Increase from 0 to 300. I would cast fireball on the monster 10 times, record the damage, and then find: sum, average, min and max damage, and mode (most frequent damage amount). Below are the results...

Thanks Veritas for the work.
Also talking about SDI, it does increase the damage done with Hit xxx on weapons, like Hit Lightning, so it is definitely worth having and adding to leveled weapons.

Re: Experiment: SDI
I also would like to know if SDI affects hit spells (lightning, fireball etc) on weapons. Does it affect hit area at all? Also talking about SDI, it does increase the damage done with Hit xxx on weapons, like Hit Lightning, so it is definitely worth having and adding to leveled weapons.
Re: Experiment: SDI
I'm just curious how fireball only does 61ish damage with 300% SDI, while weapons can hit for well over 300 damage when you get close to the 300% mark. (with 100% damage increase gear, slayer weapon, enemy of one, consecrate weapon).
The math just ain't adding up for me if someone can explain the differences, i'd appreciate it.
On second thought , i'm prolly thinking of using a Yumi with Armor Ignore. that prolly explains it.
but it still seems like fireball/magery spells are abit underpowered.

Re: Experiment: SDI
Well to be fair this was done with 0 inscription (doubt it would add that much) and fireball is a 3rd circle spell

Re: Experiment: SDI
Note: Inscription was at 120
Also, Damage Increase, Enemy of One, Consecrate Weapon, Armor Ignore/Pierce, Crushing Blow....those all affect either the way damage meets enemy armor or your weapons base damage range. These would have no effect on the Hit Lightning/Harm/Fireball/Magic Arrow, since these are considered spell castings.

Re: Experiment: SDI
I tested this and it definitely helps with the weapon hit effects like hit lightning and hit fireball. I had 100% SDI; without it and then with it against a personal trainer and the damage done with the weapon hits was doubled. This makes a great addition then to lvl weapons that have multiple weapons hit attacks.
Re: Experiment: SDI
ok cool thanks.

Re: Experiment: SDI
bump.
can we get that graph back?
I know they were all ~33, wanted to see the progression tho.

Re: Experiment: SDI
Please, could you dig up the regen graph as well. I was looking for it last week and it was missing from the forum post too.
