What do you think?

Post by Thorgal »

I have crafted over 1000 Yumi's to get the one i wanted;
+35 Dam. inc.
+50 Hit Harm
+48 Hit life leach
+46 Hit lower attack
+44 Mana leach
+40 Stam. leach

I am now thinking of adding a few deeds to it, like one handed weapon, sc, and self repair(not ennough pts to spend for that)

Now the question is, does anyone use crafted weapons to level or do you think it's not worth it even if you craft a great one!
And to they sell, is there a market for crafted weapons?

Is a crafted 4-5 resist over 13 even worth relayering?

I did the same as you, frustrated with the change in loot tables I decided to 120 bowcraft and make petri yumis until i got the exact one i wanted. I am super happy with it, it is currently at lvl 70, soon to be 100. I'd take the pepsi challenge with another dropped bow anytime.

I wanted mine to have a lot of hit lightning and Fireball. So i directed my lvl points towards that, because its a crafted, it didn't leave much points to spend on hit points and and stats, however that is just the trade off from making a crafted bow. But i have re-layers and don't need the extra stuff, so for me it was well worth it.

I love my bow, even more so that i crafted it. I had to craft about 450 to get the one i wanted, i guess i got lucky compared to you having to make 1000.

They don't sell well, most of mine went into the trash, a good bit went to the newbie chest, the others i gave to guild mates.

The only thing with your bow, Hit Harm is not that good on a bow because its a weaker hit. Also, hit lower attack is not one I favour, because mostly your not getting attacked when you use a bow, however if you use pets they are, but i prefer hit lower defence, makes them easier to hit for you, and your pets if you use them. But either way, that's a well made bow, congrates.

All in all, would a dropped 58x4 or 5 be better, sure, but good luck getting one. However a quality crafted petri yumi is 10x better than a hanzo or a horselord bow.

Edit: i wouldn't relayer for resists myself, getting the resists at max is pretty easy. Plus with the cost of relayers, its better to have a dropped weapon so you can get full points. I recommend Butcher Resolve. 75 DI and 30 SSI (i believe).

the question of

"Should I level this player crafted bow or not"

Can always be answered by simply adding up the points that are already present on the bow.

a 58x4 bow comes with about 800 points already on it depending on the stats you get, when i looted mine it was 58 lightning, lower attack, stamina and mana leech, which is 754 points, combined with 500 points from leveling this bow will have 1254 points as a finished product, which imo is worth 850 ED to one-hand/sc/sr5 it and make it into a yumi.

The bow you made has 874 points on it right out of the box, which means after you level it, it will have 1174 points on it, which I think is worth 650 ED as well (you save 200 ED on it since its already a yumi, which no 58x# weapons come as)

The hit harm is the only unfortunate downside to that beautiful bow, which would be the deal breaker for me, how ever, I would use it until i found something better, I would level it and spend only enough points to get 8/8/8 str/hits/dex and then leave the rest of the points alone and sell it later for massive cash.

I think harm's dmg is dependent on the distance to the target. The closer the target the more dmg. So on a purely melee weapon harm is good, on a ranged weapon its less effective... Still not a dead stat though like dispel

Thanks all for the imput!
Still went ahead and put a sc deed, self repair to 5 and bless deeds on it, dyed it and already leveled to 20!
Think i will keep it even though it has hit harm on it since i dont realy use it from a distance (being a melee player at heart), i will just need a way or deed to make one handed and use a shield.
Overall im very happy with it and plan on using it for a very long time.

Guys, how do you craft these bows with additional effects?
All I can do is +35 Dam. inc.

runic tools are gotten from:
1) bods
2) on moa corpse (or in your backpack after she dies)
3) (most common) using gargoyle tools. Gargoyle tools upgrade the resource by one (normal wood becomes pine for example) and have a chance to summon a (using our previous example) pine elemental. The pine elemental will have 50 pine boards and a 5 use runic tool on it's corpse. Be careful, a lot of these elementals can hit for 200hp+ so hunt with a friend, pets, or near a resser
