So apparently nature decided for now I am no longer to play uo or do any other fun things I would do with my pc (Illicit or not)
After a major lightning storm (Though I pulled the power cord from my protector) My computer has decided booting up or even showing that it recognizes even the slightest of power is beneath it. It refuses to power up ( I type this from my sis in laws pc) and I dunno what to do. The ethernet cable was still plugged in but it was also to my xbox which was connected to same router and still works fine. I'm lost and can't afford repairs. I am missing Excelsior already but will probably be awhile before I can be back on.
Naturally Forced
Re: Naturally Forced
If your computer is a desktop, it may have a circut trip on the back of its power supply. Look back near the plug part of the computer for any kind of switch you can flip back and forth. Also, some power units have this reset function when you switch the voltage and bring it back to the original setting.
Whatever the case and whatever you see back there, I highly suggest you identify the manufacturer of the power supply and do your own research on how to reset the PSU before listening to what I say. =D

Re: Naturally Forced
Replace the PSU, isnt so expensive.
Re: Naturally Forced
PSU= power supply unit. the little silver box inside your computer usually there is a fan in front of it, but... you have to understand 1 thing; electricity (lightning) has a magnetic field, which can cause harm to certain things in your computer. even if there isn't any power being supplied to the computer a magnetic field can still do harm (wipe HD, disrupt routers, and modems).
IF the computer light comes on but still nothing. i'd get a friends Hard Drive and install it into the computer then reboot. <--might be a bad HD. if you replace your PSU and nothing happens (including the little light showing the computer on) i'd suggest A) replace the motherboard, or B) buy a new tower (only the tower as you don't need anything else).

that should help you.
oh yeah i thought of something else. try swapping out the PSU from another tower; that way your not wasting money
