Really? Rare auction items in deco room?

Previously there were only two of the new sitting area4 in the deco room for Auction only. These sold for 35 and 40mil, to see this in the deco room for ONLY 5mil is insulting to me as a buyer at an auction who's suppose to be buying something rare. To allow anyone to purchase it after for way cheaper than auction price with no competition is unfair. This is now a reoccurring trend with the Wells, Marble Vanity and now the Sitting area4.
I understand wanting new deco in the deco room, however make something new. Don't just put in something that's suppose to be rare and auction only. That's unfair to everyone who attends the auction and spends their hard earned gold on a collectable that is no longer special...
Example:
How mad would someone be if they started putting Cannons, Water Houses, Docks, Special Ethereal mounts, Sarcophagus or the Wide Fireplace for only 5mil or less?
Sadly I'm not as rich as many would assume I am, I work really hard to save up gold for 3months just for an auction like many players. Even our most prestigious players work really hard for their gold..

Sadly, I am as rich as many of you assume I am....
But..
Deco does command a very high price at auctions and think that the items in the deco room should reflect that price. Now I know when you purchase deco items you do run the chance of it ending up in the deco room (one of the reasons I hardly buy deco) but I do think 5 mil when you can't even get a front seat at an auction for less then 10 mil seems a bit on the low side. After all it is these items that should be hard earned goals, not in the impulse buy price range. I think this is critical if you want to get gold under control

While typically there is a general understanding that any deco item is at risk of being replicated in the deco room for dramatically less than its auction price, I admit that I don't necessarily think that the items should be replicated exactly as they were originally sold.
It would seem more sensible for the auction items to have either unique colors or looks and for the items that ultimately end up in the deco room to be either subtly or fundamentally different in design.
If for example someone wanted to buy an auction deco item from Felli, they should have an opportunity to choose between the stock version and the one that was sold at a grand auction. Inevitably, auction items (in some capacity) will be introduced for general consumption, but we should still try to retain some of the uniqueness of the original auction item.

^ Thank you, that was exactly what I was trying to say. I just felt like the rarity went out the window, I absolutely don't mind people having it. I only wish that mine was a little different than the one in the deco room.

My suggestion would be that even if they appeared the same, that if the Grand Auction pieces had tags associated with them: for instance that piece of deco that C+ and V+ sat down in yesterday, if the chairs were tagged Colibri's Chair and Veritas's Chair, and the trees were tagged anything like "Tree of Life", "Nyx's Cherry Tree", or for that matter tagged for the winner of the auction, "Arrow's Big Tree of Goodness" that would differentiate them from future deco room items.

FYI--> Currently in the deco room, there is only 3 sitting areas, and if you try to buy any of them, you get a message saying the stone is in edit mode.

Yeah same thing happened to TheWatcher with his well that he owned for years as an auction item then suddenly its in the deco room. No longer unique. No longer valuable. Part of the reason he got the jack of it here... Grand auctions are one of the few reasons for old time vets to keep coming back and if they are no longer 'sanctioned' or have any form of 'buyer protection' then they become a sham and are kinda worthless...
There should be some difference between stock standard deco room items and Auctioned items. I Feel for ya Felli. There are soooo many options for deco on UO so why don't the staff do something new for deco room instead of recycling Auction items and annoying vets =\

Grand Auction items should also be Account bound. All of them. Uni-tubs, rideable beasts, deco items, and so on. Since, as Felli stated, you are paying such a high price for said items, having them account bound will make them non-sellable in the future and about as close to a rare item as you can get.

not only what others have said but... it also depreciates the value of auctioned items. thus, ultimately people will be wary to buy said item, which brings down the gold sink it was meant to be.
i know how you guys feel, i paid 2,250 eds for my sunglasses just to be a 'donation bonus'. luckily enough it's not like mine. in fact i didn't know the sunglasses were a different slot than the earring sunglasses till later :O. I just wanted a unique look to my toon, which is no longer unique.
On the other hand.
I know after 6 years it's proly harder and harder to come up with unique items,
and items to put in the deco room. Also, i knew one day he'd bring back the sunglasses just didn't think they would be a 'donation bonus' item, and i didn't think it would come 2 months after getting mine (i think that irked me more than the other sunglasses, because i only had 2 months to be cool lol). . Another point....it's his shard, and i'm happy to play here. i have met some really good friends and some of them have moved on, but is missed.
how to fix this problem
make the one in the deco room bigger and better than the auction items. hahahaha no jk maybe when creating deco make is category A(auction items) and category B(deco room) and Category C(my room). cat B can't go into cat A but can go into Cat C. Cat B can't go into Cat A but can go into Cat C. Cat C doesn't go into anyone else's room >.< but stays in Cat C. how about switch that sitting area with the Tree with the ladder. that was a cool deco and i own it. if it's ok with the other person; then do a switch out

. Maybe a Reward for People who willingly donate their auctioned item into the deco room (yes they get the original with a plaque.
How about this....For Donated auctioned items in the deco room each one comes with a sign in it. (i know it means you'll have to re-due every deco donated sorta. well you don't have to remake the whole things just add it part of the deed)
Donation room items have plaques
Won and Donated By: Felli
Auction Date: Feb 5th, 2012
Auctioned Item Price: 24 Million
Unique Plaque for original:
Owner: Felli
Auction Date: Feb 5th 2012
Auction Item Price: 24 Million
Plaque is optional to owner
How this helps the shard:
1 people might bid more for the item just to donate it to get their names on things.
2 people who won the auction would get credit for doing so.
3 it mocks the people that buy things out of the deco room.
4 it would fill up the deco room more, because of help 1
5 gold sink from people buying deco from deco room.

I have given Colibri my input on this issue. A few times in the last few months
Basically, there are a lot of older deco items that are unofficially retired from grand auctions because we're always coming up with new items or ideas for the GA. So those items, while great, just don't get into rotation. And that means we have all these items that someone took the time to make, which Coli then had to script to be deeded and working properly, that are completely unused now. I hate to see beautiful items being completely neglected or lost entirely (If only one or two are sold, and then those people quit and their houses decay... then those items no longer exist on the shard). So this is why I am all for adding old grand auction items to the deco room.
However, I also realize that nobody wants to pay a ton of gold for an item only to see it in the deco room for a small fraction of what they paid, especially not soon.
So, what I have suggested to Colibri is that we enact a policy where any item from grand auction MAY be put into the deco room (but is not guaranteed to) after a period of ~3 months, or even 6 months. The deco room cost would be the average cost between the most recent auctions it was sold at minus a percentage, perhaps 20%. Thus we make it so that grand auction items are still worth buying - and the players will have awareness on when/how much that might end up in the deco room for, before buying. It also means that old deco items don't just disappear to the island of misfit deco, ever unloved. Additionally, it would ensure that auction items still essentially retain their value. We might see grand auction deco items selling for a bit less because of it, but then we're also sinking gold whenever anyone buys one from the deco room, at only a marginal discount, which in the end should balance out nicely. As a part of my suggestion I also included an idea that some very special deco items could be added to the deco room using that formula for timing and pricing, but only x number (say, 20) would be sold on the stone. This would go for items that you might see in the grand auctions for over 30 mil, but would not include the special houses.
Edit: I meant to give input as to why I don't think it's feasible or likely to happen for grand auction items to be different / customized / have signs with the name & date. To do this, Colibri would have to take the already made & scripted item, add whatever to it/alter it, then re-script it into a different deed. He would have a lot of extra work, and then we have an item he has to add to the shard that will only ever be used once, which is inefficient on all fronts. Unless we did a sign that was not bound to the deeded item, but then where's the point in that, since it's not tied to the grand auction item anyway.

To me the new plan sounds great. More deco is good, and the key also is not selling it super cheap.

this creates competition. aka drama. people who can play a lot vs the people that can't. people waiting for the spawn. the list goes on.
also yeah i guess that would be alot of work for a new item. except we're talking future items? o.O so while he's making the new deco he would add that into it.

There is absolutely no way to avoid drama in all ways and all cases. Not unless Coli lets V and I start using the ban/jail hammers a lot more liberally =P
