This is a warning for all new players of this shard, beware!

Yesterday I had received a [pm from one of the admins that bluntly said one of my comments in public chat had earned me an official warning and if I were to "do it again" I would be jailed. That's all that was said. Well I'll tell you, I sure felt welcomed to the shard after that. After getting over the slight shock of the abruptness of the message, I took a second look at the shard's rules to see which one I may have broken with my comment (since no rule was cited in the message). After re-reading the rules I came to the conclusion that I hadn't technically broken any rules (the comment had not contained any vulgar language, racial slurs, or anything like that. It actually referenced something that, sadly, truly exists). I felt what must have happened was that this particular admin just didn't care for the comment. So I replied to the [pm stating that since no rule was referenced that I had broken, he had pretty much left it open to any comment I may make in the future would result in jail time for me. I then jokingly added that I would have to send all of my chat messages directly to him [for approval]. Apparently this was WAY out of line because I woke up today to find my account banned with no explanation as to why (I even checked my messages here on the website and nothing new is shown). A much easier way to deal with this (and one that 98% of other shards would have done) would have been to send me a [pm that looked something like this: "Hey there, I see that you're new to our shard, welcome. However, I do need to address the comment you made about XXXX. It was just a bit <inappropriate, offensive, extreme (whatever word they want to use)> for this shard. Please refrain from these comments in the future." To me, that would have set the line on what's acceptable on the shard, even though there is no rule against it. But coming at me with an official warning, and threatening me with jail time on a first "offense" just seems a bit extreme to me. THEN, to ban me just for pointing out that no rule was cited.... sheesh. So I figured I would come here and post about what happened just as a warning to all the new, and maybe even some seasoned, players to beware what you say in public chat or else you may find yourself quickly banned. I really hope you all get a chance to read this before the admin in question deletes this post and bans this account to.

Wow... That sucks. I just made an account this morning but haven't had a chance to make my character. It kind of sucks to get home from work and see this posted. I may be rethinking this shard. Thanks Gashara

I'm just trying to look out for my fellow newbies... Oh well I guess it's back to World of Warcraft for me.

Just so you know, a player shouldn't argue a decision or warning made by a Gm, Seer or Admin (and thats on every shard and i have played a few) even less on the forum. What happened was between you and the Gm and should stay that way!

3b. What staff members say is to be taken seriously and without question.
c. If you cannot resolve a problem with one staff member, you may request to speak with a higher rank staff.
d. Should you not reach a resolution with any staff member, contact the Coordinating Administrator. The decision from them is final.

So your next step is either A. go back to WoW and enjoy the rest of your life and miss the chance of playing on the greatess UO shard there is, or B. send a email to +Colibri at ca@uoex.net

The staffers of this shard are very good, unfortunately they are also overworked imo, and like the rest of us, they are human, have lives outside the game and are entitled like the rest of us to have an ''off or bad'' day.

I am said Admin who banned this player.

I have come to a point in my time staffing this shard where some things are just not going to be taking up as much time as they use to. I am well aware of the difference between a trouble making passer-by and someone who just wants to play here and have fun. If you have a hard time receiving a warning regarding your joke about Chinese child labor in global chat, and cannot take a staffer asking you to stop without replying with multiple mocking pms, then this is not the place for you.

P.S. I am not having an "off day", I will just be putting up with a lot less from now on.
