Wealth-Gaining Macros

Coveting entices contention between people/players. Hatred will quickly ensue. t'Is best to desire without coveting.

Trygg, coveting and desiring are essentially the same thing by definition. The capacity and likelihood for contention or hatred due to any form of envy is an entirely different issue. That is based in a person's personality. The desire/coveting itself does not necessarily induce contention or hatred. Using myself as an example; I am not a person prone to hatred over small things and there's plenty that I covet. It's never caused me to feel hatred for someone who has something I don't.

I almost decided not to post. I think a constructive conversation never hurt anyone.
However, there is nothing here to prove that it is or is not rigged.
Personally, I do not mind missing out on raffles, as they do not impact the game's enjoyment (I usually buy a few tickets).
I will always have fun with Excelsior's great content and friendly faces (which may or may not approve of me)!
What does impact the game's enjoyment for me however (example) is people hitting a button to initiate a macro which
most people don't even have access to (scripts that ease the gain of wealth that are not made available for everyone's
"enjoyment").
This facilitates (amongst many things) the raffles and immediately destabilizes the playing field.
Some, like me, do not like using macros to automate the game for various reasons (learning and so on...).
Something similar could be said of Donations, however, everyone has access to this and therefore is
exclusive but fair. And when things are not fair, it makes it very unpleasant for me personally*.
I appreciate you addressing these issues (and do not feel like it is my place to criticize a decent enough system),
but I feel that it is still inconclusive and does not contribute to a transparent and leveled gold sink system. I humbly feel
that the system could perfected somehow and would enjoy that things be made thus for the
betterment of the shard and the
entirety of those who inhabit it.
Thanks for reading
*Can be better described in this video (I encourage all to watch) which talks about empathy, cooperation, fairness and reciprocity -- caring about the well-being of others in as basic an instinct as cooperation. Pay close attention to the elephant segment.

Well, I would think that a long-time veteran and well respected administrator of this shard saying that it is not rigged or in any way being hacked or exploited would be 'evidence'. There is no evidence that it IS being rigged or hacked or exploited.
Regarding your mentioning of someone using a macro to buy raffle tickets:
To my knowledge no such macro currently exists. We were made aware of a player using a macro that emoted "*buys 200 tickets*" every few seconds or so, and we put a stop to that based on the level of spam it was generating. However it was not actually buying tickets. Currently on the titan's hammer there have been 5000 tickets sold. If that person was genuinely buying 200 tickets, even just 200 per minute, by the end of one hour that would be 12,000 tickets.
Macroing to buy tickets is not strictly against the rules as it is not a resource nor does it involve any sort of gain. It would not be encouraged, but if someone wants to buy tickets in intervals for some weird reason (as when you buy the tickets has absolutely no bearing on how the raffle winner is decided) then I don't see any reason that would be 'wrong'. Silly, useless and rather eccentric sure. But not against our rules.

I understand.
Please read my post carefully as there is no mention of a macro that purchases raffle tickets.

Funny story. I haven't bought 1 ticket for the Titan's Hammer raffle. But after this. Maybe I Shall.

Dear Draco,
In The United Meritocratic nation-states of the Internet, those who can do, rule. Those who wish to rule, learn. Everyone else watches from the stands.
Or in other words - life is not fair. The economic system in Excelsior is not utopian communism where everyone gets whatever they need. No, far from it. It's free market at it's best (or worst). People try and do use each advantage they have to get ahead in the game - coding skills, unlimited gaming time, big wallet, helpful friends, a good head for trading or anything else. You should not penalize people for having such advantages and the will to use them (ie. making macros). If (EXAMPLE!) you have 12 hours available to play UO and I have 1 should it be expected of you to share the gold you earn with me? Or perhaps limit every player to being online only 1 hour? How fair would that be?

And it is by your own choice, not mine. Why should I be forced not to use macros just because you don't want to?

Draco, posting about people using macros to gain wealth in a thread about raffles is off topic. Mentioning raffles and then writing a rather lengthy post about macros doesn't make it on topic, either. Because we want the raffle thread to be about the raffles, and not degrade into a gripefest about other shard issues, we split the topic. Your posts were not deleted, or even moved to a different section of the forums. They're right there for everyone to see and reply to, but they aren't dragging down the other thread with topic changes. Furthermore, *all* the off topic posts were moved, not just yours. Even one of my own.
And please take some constructive input: if you want your opinion to be valued the way you claim to value everyone else's, don't make thinly veiled attacks/snipes at the staff. It's poor form and petty.

Very well.
But my post was about raffles and still it was moved, so I thought it was odd.

i bought 10 tickets for a skill ball +120 and won. it was like what do i need with a 120 skill ball. so i gave it out for free. i don't think the raffle is rigged; just i didn't buy enough for the other things.

I feel that in my mind it's not possible to so-to-say rig a raffle. You can buy more tickets than others thus increasing your chances of having one of your many tickets drawn opposed to others like me who only buy a few tickets for a test of luck much rather than anything else, but that's far from rigging.
As for macros that purchase tickets I could really care less to have such a macro when I can just do it by hand in as little time as a script. I don't use scripts and have always done everything by hand, but I really don't see any advantages in having them for wealth. I can teleport just as fast as anyone else to buy tickets and otherwise if I so desired.
