Get the Custom Hue File!!!

Many people tell me that all they see is black when they come to my shop, and that many other things in the game are black to them. They wonder why the game has hue issues.

The first thing I do now when I speak with a new player is to maker sure they have the custom hue patch installed.
If a lot of players seem to have all black gear, weapons, mounts & pets and you often walk into a house or shop and everything is black, it's not that these people are depressed or anything, you simply need to install the Excelsior Custom Hue File which can be found here -

http://uoex.net/files/hues3c1.zip

Once this is installed, the world of Excelsior will be a better (and less baffling) place.

*EDIT*
Just unzip it to your main UO Excelsior directory, over-riding old files.

The confusing thing is that it should be included in the custom client but it's not.

So I was wondering why lots of stuff was black, thanks!

The thing is: I installed this custom hue file, and I still see black. I get some improvements: there's a few tiles in the Youth Center that show up now.

After installing this hue file, is there any additional step? Rebuild a cache someplace?

After banging my head on this, I finally made some progress.

I use Razor to launch UO, not the actual UO executable. After nosing around a bit, I noticed that Razor wasn't even reading the hues.mul from my UO installation directory. After I copied the hues.mul to my Razor installation directory, things appear to work. In fact, just for giggles, I deleted hues.mul from my UO installation directory, and things still worked.

tl;dr
If you use Razor to launch UO, copy the hues.mul to the Razor directory, not to your UO directory.
