I finally have money saved up and would like different people views.
Are bios worth the money? And by worth it, how much for a decent bio? Also what can i do with a bio that i cannot with 5 mules?

Get Human Bio depending on your needs. I suggest Non-caster unless you plan your bio to use Area dmging skills of weapons (they require your bio to be caster, but weapon has to have Spell Channeling on it). Decently equipped bio (not talking about relayers nor GOC here) is amazing contribution.

Let your bio always carry Bandies.

Suggested Stats depending on what u want to use your bio:

Get RPD and Resists maxed (good Bio-engineer will make them with maxed resists already, so you would not have to worry about it)

Stamina Leech is a must no matter what.

If you plan to use bio for Champs with AOE on its weapon, I suggest your bio to have Life Leech on it (you still would have to heal it from time to time but not intensively.
If no AOE is present on the weapon then LL is not really needed (still good to have but not necessary, unless you are low on mana)
On hit spells are cool to have on the weapon no matter what.

5 Mules vs 1 Bio ...... Mules die during Kronus, need intensive healing on peerless. If Bio is equipped with LL, it seldom healing will do fine.

Thanks for the info. I would more then likely use the bio plus two mules for all but champs really. Normally don't have the time to devote to champ spawns all the time, but i would like to use them for doom, and maybe get enough courage for my first run on Mel.

My two cents. The bio is most useful as primarily a tanking pet. As you progress in-game your personal DPS will quickly surpass your bio's, whatever weapon it uses. A lot of the old bio makers actually recommend not getting any of the fancy mod-con bios and just get one specced for tanking. There was a quite a spirited discussion about it last year, I remember.

As to it being worth the money; It depends entirely on your playstyle. If you use pets out of necessity and would rather not use them at all, maybe skipping the bio and going straight to 220 dex and hp increases would benefit you more. If you're a tamer by nature and are in no hurry to get to 220dex and 500hp, then a bio will most definitely suit you. Unless you want to run 5 imps instead.

Some points to remember:

Biopets cannot be shrunk. You have to stable them.
Your human biopet will require armour and weaponry for resists and DPS. These items will require frequent repairs.
Human biopets can heal themselves but they need bandages.
Human biopets can ride mounts. Which increase their speed but use up one of your pet slots.
Once your human biopet loses poisoning skill, it can never get it back.

If you plan on doing GoC hunting a lot. You would need imprisoned pets ontop of a bio, since you don't want the bio to die, and The bio will die or possibly die at Fire Ruby Dragon, Ice Wyrm, Paroxysmus, and is just a bad idea to bring out at Labyrinth. So overall, It really depends how long u want to use it, and what you want to use it on...But as I have told most who ever ask me to make them a bio....99 out of 100 times, They don't want a bio, they want imprisoned pets for what they really want to do. Better to spend a little more money on something that will last and be able to do more things for you.

But that is my opinion on it. But it is true, 99 out of 100 times, a person wants imprisoned pets, but thinks a bio might be cooler.

For future reference, how many ed would it cost for 5 fully maxed imps?

There was some calculations done on the subject about a year a go. But mostly for a single imp you need:
- 1 mill for a high str one (360+), no use in maxing a low str one
- 1700 oints (depends on the starting stats of the imp, might be less)
(- optionally 130 pet powerscrolls - these used to go for 1-1,5m each, no idea how it is now)

So that totals to about 7-8mill (oints @4k) + PS's, per pet. Grand total of 40 mill+ for a pack.

Here is the deal, later in the game if u go the re-layer route, you aren't going to care what str they were, Low str does NOT hit for much less in a pack over higher str ones (higher str is just for the 'look at me' part of the game). Also, you do not need to max them out with ointments either, I never went past 500 hp on any of my imprisoned pets. no need to. It is not like dying will lose their stats, Only things needed on each imp to raise would be max their dex, add a bit of stam, then raise the HP to about 500 or 600 and you will be fine.

Dramoor's right - the str difference is not that much of a deal, but if you're going to spend tens of millions on the imps, you might as well fork out the few hundred k more to get them as close as possible to the ideal.

I think for now i will just run with my bio and 2 mules. Build up some bank. Work my way up from there.

I hate saying it, but once fully ointed there really isn't much difference in imps in regards to str. I have 2 I use regularly and neither is real high, i think ones even 274. I've had 360s all the way down to 260s and not noticed a difference once ointed.

lol the first thing i did was get the summon ball. I also just got two squirrel imps. We will see how that combo goes. I still need to train up the imps and decently equip the BIO.
