Hello all,
I used to play a long time ago (98ish), then played again around '04ish. Excited on what Excelsior offers, so I want to give it a try. I like the additional lands/ items, the global chats, activity, and optional PK. Ive played other shards where the PKs hang in one safe zone and wait for someone like me to run by and gank.
I will read the Wiki, but plan on creating a char tomorrow. I have to go to work again now, so thought Id ask a few questions.
Any advice on starting a mage / provoker (as far as beginning stats)? Whats a decent srt/intel/dex to aim for, should I spend my stat ball on magery so I can get to areas and defend myself while upping provo, and whats the most popular bank? When I used to play back in the day it was Brit Bank, but I dont know if thats the case.
Also, when is the shard most popular, and are people willing to do group hunts. I like to play, but not always by myself (yes i know how that sounds).
Thanks and look forward to meeting people, playing, and inviting friends!
Justin

you can be anything you want since there is no skill cap. also, i think u should use your skill ball on something more challenging to level up than magery, maybe taming, poisoning etc. just remember the cap is 120 but only after you use a "powerscroll 120". so first get the skill to 60 use a ps 120 in the specific skill and use the skill ball. my suggestion however is hold on the skill ball for a while and use it later. i used mine 12 months after starting my character on poisoning to take it from 60 to 120. like this youll get a feel for leveling skills and how difficult/easy they are.
if u need anything else, feel free to [pm Alejandro
enjoy and welcome

you can be everything gm, if you have a) the time, b) the money, c) the patience

Re: New Player - Advice
Do the rat quest for the organic materials in the newbie area as often as possible.
The timer on escorts is very low, do one every time you see one.
Use your extra character slots to farm Bulk Order Deeds so that when you actually start doing them you have a large supply to choose from.
Those are three things I wish I had done more of as a younger player.

Re: New Player - Advice
I've only been playing for about 2 months, but there seems to be players on all the time.
I would advise you to balance out your stats when you start off, as you can only get stat gain once per 15 mins, so it really does help in the beginning if things are balanced out, I started off with most of my points in Str, fairly inbalanced stats, and it was a bit of a pain. I think stat cap is 300 total and each individual has a max of 125 to start with. Dex is least important for a caster I think, but you may change your mind on play style once you start playing, especially as there is no skill cap and some great custom pets and instant heal if you get dex high enough.
There is also a gate in the town centre that is a "young players room" with free kit in chests for young players.
Each account is also entitled to 5 free skill trains at vendors etc, so make use of them
Brit bank is popular and so is trinsic.
If you want to find stuff to buy on player vendors, the best place to look is here http://vendors.uoex.net/# it scans all vendors near teleporters and has a searchable database of all items they are selling. Definitely saves time and stops you getting RSI from clicking on loads of vendors!

Re: New Player - Advice
total stat cap can raise to 350 with stats scroll, individual stat can raise to 150 with 5 x +5 individual stat scroll. Oh! and skill can raise to 120(not grand master but legendary) for normal skills and 130 for combat skills, with skills powerscroll and essence for combat skills
Everything started with nothing...
