question about damage received

Hi all,

so im still pretty new, and loving the shard, however i have a question about damage received.

how come something like a Trog (just an example) will hit me for 40% of my life, while i have all 70 resist with my leather armor. ill watch another player with obvious better armor get hit for way less.

does it have to do with my strength, or other stats? the possible bonuses better players armor has (arties that have say plus 8 srt) on it?

how can i take less damage? does wearing plate with 70 physical resist take much less harder of a hit than leather armor with 70 physical resist.

armor type doesn't matter at all.

Chances are he has far more health than you do (from str and hp bonuses) so it looks like 1 hit takes far less % of his health even when the actual number is the same.
