Unpopulated Areas

I know that V and N and C are all busy as beavers on the new facets and scripts and stuff.. but I saw that we have a new body on staff in +R... coolness wether or not this gets acted on well that remains to be seen.. but I thought Id start a post about unpopulated areas. in both the dungeons and overland in the current facets there are alot of deserted areas that feel like they are screaming out "put monsters in me" I know I am not the only one who has seen spots like this.. so I thought Id start a post for screenshots of such areas..
now I know the staff is very occupied but Requiem probably would love to get his hands dirty on his own little project, perhaps screenshots we post here could offer some inspiration. the thing about adding some spawns here or there is that to my knowledge (although my knowledge could be flawed) there is little or no scripting involved just use of a tool??? regardless feel free to add ur own screenshots and if nothing else may provide inspiration down the road to a gm looking for a new idea or whatnot..
before I post some shots up I have loved +Nyx's dungeon revamps in trammel they are quite excellent, so excellent in fact that well.. they make alot of the felucca dungeons look flacid and tame by comparison.. (hint hint)
anyhow lets start this show off
This is a room you teleport into in Hythloth, off by itself totally empty and to me at least (perhaps I am a strange one) it is just saying in bold type PUT A MONSTER IN ME!!!
This one surprises me, on almost every shard I have ever played on this was an area of great interest for bashing monsters on the head, but in both facets its rather unpopulated. Hedge Maze
All over all of the facets there are archetectural points of interest, things that look like they should be inhabited but aren't here is a few examples
and lastly (till I think of more spots to hilite)
are things like this where it appears there was something at one time, and now there is not
I am sure many of you have come across spots like this.. Id love to see any/all of them
perhaps it can serve as a bit of an inspiration for our new friend Requiem

I was an admin on a shard for many years and I set out to all these empty spots to make sure that we didn't have any. Meaning if I found an empty spot it wasn't empty for long. It made it quite exciting. Never a dull moment cause there was always something to kill. I to have found many many empty spots that I think hmm this would be good here. Then I remember I cannot add it lol. I know they are busy and probably not thinking of it with so much else to think of. Personally I LOVED doing the spawns and watching how players would react to it. I never had one complain. Great post Yoda.

I have been thinking the same thing for a long time now. The unspawned areas are countless. I'm sure theres some reasoning behind it, cutting back on mobiles, etc. However places I consider landmarks, like Hedge Maze, should without a doubt be populated with something.

I have also noticed in Fel, that there are several spots you cant enter. I am not sure if these are old event spots or what but these could also be opened and populated.
I will try to get some screenshots of these areas when I run into them.

Please leave the maze alone.
Hell, please set it so you can't teleport in it or recall/gate/Sacred into it.
Make it a real maze, populated with woodland things like birds and rabbits and such.
THen make use of it for the occasional quest. Oh the fun of trying to get to the center the hard way

Annachie, don't forget about the mini dungeon with the secret entrance in the middle of the maze. Not sure about Felucca, but Trammel has resident daemons.
Also, in Fel, there is a cordoned off area at G4 that is presumably an event area.

I've noticed some places that seemed like they could use some love - but since I'm new here (just over a month) I didn't want to write about it and come across as the big-mouthed new guy who wants to turn the eight-year old server on its ear. Figured I'd get to know people, get a feel for whether or not these types of suggestions are warmly received, and so on. And I've been having a lot of fun exploring a rich world that's almost all new to me, so it's not like any of this is imperative.
Welcome +Requiem and I pray that Yoda's plans for you are at least partially within the scope of reality.

Here's my contribution to the discussion -
Cyclops Island, Felucca - completely devoid of life
Wyvern Point, Felucca - same as above
the island west of Haven, joined to it by a bridge, Trammel - same as above
North Jhelom Island, Trammel - very light spawn on both farms and zero bulls - it would feel right (to me at least) if they were busier, and the rest of the island spawns only giant serpents and lizardmen - used to also seeing ratmen, small snakes, and silver serpents, allligators, other themed monsters
Skara Brae stable (by the bank), Trammel - not a single animal in there
as far as dead/unused points of interest go (and I apologize for not taking pictures but my time online is so limited that I'd rather not run around for hours screenshotting when I can just describe something) -
the games room just north of Town Center - Does this currently serve a purpose? It looks tremendously cool but I only get 'You access level isn't sufficient to use this gate' when I try to play anything there.
the quiz/puzzle involving NPCs and old rusty keys on the north wall of Trinsic, Felucca - I have a very strong feeling that this no longer serves any purpose, it's mostly blocked off... I did find a way to get up there, answer some of the trivia questions and even get in the room but I couldn't get anywhere with it

It didn't originally. It annoyed me when OSI added those demons.
Not every area needs to be populated with kick ass monsters. It's not as if the server is being crowded with PC's, nor realistically will it ever be.

not suggesting every area is populated with kick ass monsters.. and daemons aren't what Id call "kick ass" but something is always better than nothing, and as some in this post have suggested even animals in some areas are whats called for

Agreed, Yoda that something is always better than nothing. It's why there are rocks, waterfalls, lava, and other landscape that serves no purpose but to decorate the land. It's why there are buildings that are never used for anything dotting city roads. It's why dogs, cats, rats, and lots of other super low-level creatures exist.
I'd prefer what I'm used to seeing in the Hedge Maze - random powerful monsters making it a place of danger - but I'm not against Annachie's idea of making it into something decorative/event-ready. It doesn't always have to be same-old, same-old. I wonder why Annachie is so dead set against monster spawn though, considering that there's currently almost nothing there now and any change would be an improvement.
