Spirit of UO

Post by Agony »

HI all. there is something I noticed today that I just have to express. A friend and I just came back from Prism of light. We left not because we were finished with what we went there for... Quite the opposite. I go there often to get items for GoC. I have yet to see anyone else there.. It's always just empty and I think I know why.
The spirit of UO is companionship, friendship, fellowship of multiple players. There is nothing more satisfying (to me) in this game than asking someone else if they'd like to form a kick-butt party to go conquer something as a team. This means multiple players.
Up until now I did not know that Prism was turned into a solo dungeon.. It just seemed so cold and lonely. I remember going there with parties to conquer the whole place. We had a blast there and very often. Now... We left because it's now... Solo. Lonely. Cold. You can hear the lonely echoes travel down the barren cavern passages as you pass thru. No response. There is no one there. There is no reason for a party. :(

Unfortunately, the jerkery of a few tend to ruin it for everyone, at least for awhile. These types of spawns were being abused, and the near constant litany of complaint pages was just too much hassle for the staff over time and it ruins the fun for those of you who are there to play fairly and legitimately.

For the foreseeable future, we have no plans to change how these spawns are done. This is mainly because we need some scripting tweaks done by Coli, and for the aforementioned foreseeable future, Coli's coding time is being hogged by +V and I for things needed in order to continue development of Touria and Elysium. We're both at a bit of a standstill until those things are ready for us, and opening the facets as soon as possible is priority #1 for the staff. Barring any major issues that need even more immediate resolutions, we'll have Coli chained to his to-do list for quite awhile yet.

My main point in all that was that once these things for the new facets are ready, we plan to ask Coli to script in a much more efficient (and less irritating) way to prevent trolling/exploiting of these bosses, while still allowing for group play. Hang in there, we're truly not giving up on the spirit of the game. Sometimes we just have to put a bandaid on something until Coli has time for a better fix.

I've also been in the PoL to farm GoC items and to kill some SE..I went in with some guildie cause making the trip and all the clearing alone is, as stated, icnredibly boring..even if you stay on TS talking with someone..

I understand that there is a priority list, but I also hope, as Agony does, that we will have the possibility for group fights again in the future..groups > solo! ;)
