Unfair Jail Sentence

I guess it's perfectly fine for her to act like that to somebody, but you call her out and it's game over. I asked for screenshots, she supplied only the ones that supported her cause. This is beyond ridiculous treating somebody like this.

No, she supplied a screenshot of one single PM in which I called her ignorant. The point was she started the name calling by calling me childish in a PM prior to that. I was arguing my case that there was no macro that runs around killing stuff unorganized as I was. I was unaware what the AFK check was, and did not respond to it, so I was jailed. I argued and received additional tasks. She started the name calling prior to my supposed staff harassment.

If this type of behavior happened on a game that was paid for she'd be gone like that. I've donated twice, but won't be again after this crap.

You were running around killing mobs. I popped the manual AFK check on you, same as any other player on any other day. More than a few managed to answer this particular check with that hue of sparkle and that question just fine today. You didn't answer, nor did you show any indication you noticed it at all. Upon moving you to jail, you were assigned 2 tasks as part of your tier 1 warning, per the codex.


I only bother to take screenshots of conversations when the player becomes dramatic, rude, or the conversation otherwise goes to a possibly important/serious place. Otherwise I'd have gigs and gigs of useless screenshots. Since you were relatively polite, if irate, up to this point; this was the first screenshot I bothered to take, once *you* began being rude. Prior to this I had only explained the rules to you and how AFKing is defined by our codex. You became more and more overwrought as the conversation went on, until you became very rude with this page:

At which point you continued by yelling and were assigned 15 additional tasks. Considering how much you're harping on the fact that I did in fact instruct you to stop being childish, if I had done so *before* this page, you would have been yelling about it in *this* page. Please also note that in the codex, being disrespectful to the staff carries a much higher penalty (12 hours' worth of jail work is about 144 tasks), but since I understood your frustration at having missed the AFK check for the first time, I only gave you 15. Some is required for the extremely poor behavior, but 144 would have been too harsh given that this was the first time you have been cited for this infraction and the severity was relatively low.


So, let this be a lesson to all:

1. Answer the AFK check. Being in your chair but not looking at the screen so that you fail the check does not constitute an excuse to get out of the punishment. If you aren't sure what's going on stop what you're doing, stop your script/macro if applicable, and say so. You have plenty of time to do so.

2. Answering after you're moved to jail doesn't qualify as a get out of jail free card. In some cases it will give you a reduction in tasks, but it is still logged in the records and still counts toward your tally for the future.

3. If you have questions or want to discuss your jailing, do so politely and calmly. We understand you might be frustrated, upset, scared even; but that does not give you the right to speak disrespectfully to any of the staff who are simply doing their jobs here. If you become belligerent and rude, you can expect for our interest in assisting you to diminish and to potentially receive more tasks. We do this all the time, we get this bad attitude from players all the time, and it gets really old.

AFK'ing for profit is a serious problem on this shard. Our AFK system is in place to prevent that as much as possible. Warnings come with 2 tasks to give each player who receives it an idea of what rock jail is, in hopes of deterring any potential major AFK'ing issues in the future. It also decays in 3 months, if you do not violate again. So while you clearly disagree with your warning, if you legitimately don't violate the AFK rules by not paying attention while you're killing mobs, you won't have this issue again in the future. That would be wonderful, truly.

Hey as I said. I don't understand the whole thing. But I do understand that seeing her screen shot You said it first.

But I don't know the entire story. I guess maybe it would have been wiser to just go to colibri so he can check the logs to see who said what first.

But Let me chime in with. It is super easy to have a script attack mobs and run around. with about 15 lines of code in easyuo/OpenEasyUO.

I have scripts that can auto do an entire champ, running around, looting etc, also have scripts that can run the gauntlet. It is possible and quite easy to do really.

But what you have to realize with the AFK check is this. Was it your first offense/ usually little jail duties to do.

You also have to realize that everyone who gets caught afk, probably says the exact same thing you said even if they are truely afk. I am not saying you were afk, you might not have been. But, look at it from their point of view. If you fail the check and they just take your word for it, They have to do that to everyone. WHich means afk all over the place and noone gets in trouble for it. Take one for the team and move on and enjoy UO.

What, verbatim, was your message to her that resulted in you "being called childish"? (Screen shot please)

I love the whole run for the forums approach, its a long established cliche by now. You could just e-mail Colibri (you probably did anyway) and await for his intervention/rejection, since that would be the only other person who could supervise the situation...the readers can't. Readers just have what you tell them, readers just have what we (staff) tell them, but they also are not a deciding body for how we deliver correction to people who violate rules. Staff only share private information regarding punishments when it is a matter of setting the record straight, usually in defense against the idea that we are some unfair dictatorial governing body who that loves nothing more than ruining the experience of others. The overwhelming majority of the time, we end up showing all what really happened...and the player is put in their place.

So, in my mind, going to the forum is usually done by those who want to have their moment of outrage and tantrum for all to see...not to actually bring an injustice to the attention of those who can actually correct it.

So...lets see your evidence...

Who wouldn't be pissed at getting unfairly jailed? Disagree? We'll just add more jail time. Lets only take screenshots of the conversation that supports our side. Only one PM (when there were several more), that proves it, lets all get on nyx side!

Don't you have anything of substance to post against her ruling? All I am reading from you is hearsay. I see a screenshot from her, which shows you lied about the order of who called whom, what.

You have screen capture just like she does.

Everyone gets the same AFK check process. The overwhelming majority of people answer it in time, when they are actually there.

So far, in recent memory, the only people who do what you are doing are the ones who are reaching for any medium they can to express outrage and attack the staff. It just that every single time so far, it has backfired for the one who starts it.

What I am seeing is evidence of you lying. I see nothing concrete regarding you being treated unfairly, or verbally abused or disrespected unjustly. So, because a screenshot was supplied negating your previous statement that must mean that there are other super secret screenshots that would show that you were a saint and unjustly punished? Please...

You should've stuck with escalating a page to Colibri and/or e-mailing him.
