Well, after trying a few free shards and consistently getting PK'd.
I found this shard and decided to give it a go because of the PVM aspect of it. Which is what I like to do.
So spending about 40 mins last night getting the Razor working and UOAM as well.
I finally log in and low and behold, I'm sitting on a mount.. Nice... Now were talking.
I proceeded up to the cemetery to put my shiny new sword to use and work on my dexxer skills.
Somehow after killing my first skeleton, I managed to dismount the ride ( note to self don't double click on your mount) and the next thing I know, it bolts for some baddies - He was valiant and showed tremendous loyalty and spirit. But he was out classed in battle. I debated pausing to look at his corpse but I was only going to make myself feel even more shame ..
So that's my tail of loosing my first mount in less than 90 seconds...
I am the Noob of Noobs.... haha

Welcome to the shard! You may still be able to rez your Llama if the ghost is still there. Just ask in world chat and I'm sure someone will help you rez the poor valiant beast.

lol - He was there last night.. haha..
But it's ok.. I can work towards getting another one and to be honest, without having to worry about PKers - it'll be fun getting to the un-noob status.. haha..

For the future, there's an option in Razor to prevent dismounts while you're in War mode.

I'll make sure I set that to "On" - haha.
Coming back to UO after so long away from playing is part of the problem. There is just so much to re-learn about the game and there is more reading to be done on my part for sure.
But that's all part of the fun of UO for me.

Welcome To the shard! Same reason I left others, was the Annoying issue of getting jumped by five reds who stood in a safe zone so they didn't have to fight each other. Excelsior is a super fun version of UO. A lot of customs, friendly people, and the best has been pulled from nearly every version to make this one extra good. Enjoy!

I must admit, not having to worry about being ganked consistently makes for more enjoyment when playing. One of the best things about UO I find is taking the time to actually build your character and it can really be frustrating when trying to do that while being camped and loosing your stuff everytime.
I have been on the shard for about a week and I'm really enjoying my time and the fact that there are some customizations as well. Having played this game back in 99 for a few years I thought I would be able to jump back into it. - haha No... This game has so much about it and having to learn it all again is also a part of the fun.
