Spawn Hiding

I've seen a practice start occurring frequently that will result in some QQing (in +Nyx's vernacular). One particular guild I've noticed will hide at certain spawns, only to pop-up when the timer is done. I reviewed the codex and found:

"If a player is hidden, it is considered that they are not in line."

As a result, I will not be honoring those that pop up at a spawn from their hiding spot. If I can attack first or the spawn aggros to me, it appears I am well within my rights to kill it. Not only that, but if you then attack after me from your hiding spot, I will page and report you. I am posting this message for 3 reasons. 1. As a notice of my impending decision mentioned and 2. to get any clarification needed from Staff or other players. Lastly, I would suggest that we remove hiding from these spots (Netopir, Grizzle, etc.) as has been done with Balron spawns as I foresee this becoming a larger issue. Thanks for reading.

I think your understanding of the rule is accurate and I think this post was the best possible way to handle the issue. I support removing hiding in peerless spawn areas too. It sounds easier than town crier messages and Help pages ad nauseum reminding and reporting players.

I agree, this is an issue. It's been happening with more frequency in the last several months, so I've disabled hiding / stealth / invisibility at: Netopir, Slaarion, and Grizzle. We'll see how it goes for awhile with these, and make any changes or additions as necessary.

In the future, it's best to page when things like this happen - even if we can't put the smackdown on the offending player in each instance, at least we're aware that it's happening. I'd thought it had tapered off again, so I hadn't done anything about it. If I'd known it was still going on as much as before, but that we just weren't getting the reports of it, I'd have done this a long time ago.

Hi Nyx,

Related question: are y'all doing AFK checks on non-dungeon killing? The reason I ask is that there seem to be a lot of recall-bot killers in the Fan Dancers / Rune Beetles area lately where the bot pops in, starts killing everything in sight and then, in some cases, pops out as soon as it detects a blue player nearby leaving the mobs unfinished.

I don't know that any of these folks actually are AFK but they're blatantly bots and there seem to be an awful lot of them. I've been AFK-checked in dungeons a couple of times but never on the surface.

Regards,
Wil

When we do AFK checks, we check every player who is performing an action that is illegal to do when AFK. So, anyone killing spawns - regardless of their location - will be checked. Sometimes we will not check folks that we already know are there (they're talking in wc, they've just paged, etc.), but as a general rule it's everybody who's killin' stuff.
