Christmas Tree Proposal

This is a "What if.." thought that has not been logistically determined, but I'm posting this because it could be fun and in the spirit of the season.

What if there was a communal Christmas Tree in Britannia where we could leave gift boxes to other players. The gift boxes will be submitted through a drop box, and then displayed around the tree. At a certain date, they would be distributed. Maybe just even a book saying "A has a gift for B".

Distribution could be through the address book system, but it really needs a trusted person to act as escrow.
A thread on this forum could fill in what we can't do ingame - such as undelivered gifts or thanks for the chunk of coal :)

It's an idea that is ripe for abuse, but most players I hope will get into the spirit.

I invite discussion. This could be Staff administered or a trusted player being Santa!

I think there should be a Menorah that distributes a present on each day of Hanukkah.

I want a festivus pole made out of bud light cans and a patron bottle top! and we could have feats of strength!

I see people are clowning rather than replying appropriately...

Birko, I like your idea. I'm just not sure +C will have time or motivation to work on it in time for the holiday this year. It's a great thought, though, and I was speaking to +R a little bit ago about how I had wanted to think of a cool way for the staff to do a sorta 'secret santa' with the players, but we hadn't thought of anything that wouldn't be essentially unfair. Your idea would be kinda a fun way for us to do that, though!

I also really liked the idea, I understand the 'player solution' would be something like this:

1 - Put a locked down chest in a house (probably a shop would be nice), where the people who want to participate drop their own card.

2 - At a given day the organizer do the 'drawing' and start distributing the cards. Of course, the organizer would 'know' the result of the drawing.

3 - A locked down chest can also be used for people to drop their sealed packages (ready to post).

4. In the delivery day, the escrow would be in charge of dropping all packages into mail system so everybody receive them at the same time.

I think doing a shard secret santa would be a big work for the player escrow if many people join.

This is also nice for guilds to do, the delivery day could be in a guild meeting where all people comment on their presents... ;-)
