Build for Blaze of Death
Re: Build for Blaze of Death
i think its ok, if those are the things you need currently. Are you planning on levelling another one once you already have 220 dex? Those points could be spent elsewhere. Mana leech not really needed either later on. (good for now though).
I would drop the dex, and leeches in favor of either 1) higher areas, or 2) lightning/harm.
I cannot stress enough, how personalized weapons are. Whats good for you might not be good for me, and vice versa. Play style plays a much bigger role in weapon design, than maxing one thing or another, and it all comes down to how you play.
I prefer standing in 1 spot and killing stuff. Others enjoy running around a lot. Still others prefer a more balanced approach etc.
That's one reason i never jumped on the ornate axe bandwagon. I like yumi's cuz i don't have to chase mobs down as much.

Re: Build for Blaze of Death
For me so far I have added Hit area cold to 30, and am now bringing harm up to 30. After that I'm not sure but I'm thinking lightning, then strength/hp's etc.
If I was to do it again, I might leave the hit cold off.
Basically, for me, it has become the hit areas are to drag them in and the whirlwind hits to kill them off.

Re: Build for Blaze of Death
I'm approaching lvl 90 on my blaze and for dealing max DPS there is no other weapon that comes close, IMO. (i'm doing this from memory as i'm at work and can't look) If I had to do it again, i'd probably not put lightning, and just have more area effect spells.
Lightning 50
hit mana leech 20
Hit cold area 25
hit poison area 25
hit energy area 25
The stacks of hit area with whirlwind can decimate most monsters.

Re: Build for Blaze of Death
is there an advantage to having 3 or 4 area effects at 25 in stead of 2 at 50
Re: Build for Blaze of Death
Only the variability of all 3 or 4 going off sometimes
8 opponents.
2 AoE's @ 50 gives an average of 8 triggers per swing
4 AoE's @ 25 also gives an average of 8 triggers per swing. So about the same.
But the max for 2 AoE's is 16 triggers, whereas for 4 it's 32.
So basically, whilst the average will be the same, the extremes will be wildly different. 2 AoE's will be a smoother curve, a more consistent hit, while the 4 will be more extreme. Bigger alpha strike if you will, but bigger chance of low effects too.
The other side is that 4 AoE's means you hit 4 different resist types. More likely to hit the lowest resist on the targets. That is harder to quantify.
