Now this is just a thougt that wont pass without most of you agreeing, but i notice that most people just macro all their skills - if you want to be GM something all you need is money for the resource and a good connection, and well some skill in Razor
skills i have in mind are
- necro
- music
- animal lore
- maybe lumberjacking? so you cannot get to legendary on the trainer.
we'd pick the actual skills probably by polls or some good conversation.
not trying to ruin anyone's fun, but well maybe there could be skills that mean more to have Grandmastered... not just a few hours afk macroing.
Poll runs for 15days. And i it would need quite a good support, 2/3 or 3/4 to change this.

I wonder what the vote would have looked like if we was voting on Swords, Fencing, or Macing. These skills are gained the same way as lumberjacking, why single the chosen skills out??? Why is it OK to afk Fighting skills but not to Afk a needed skill for a crafter??? We need miners, lumberjacks, and other crafting skills to make those greatly desired keys. I guess if you are just killing dragons for gold and leaving hides to decay with the body you wouldn't need keys. I guess everyone thinks people who lumberjack do it for fun. I do it for the resources needed to make the things that makes Excelsior a better place to live. It is very boring to lumberjack or mine. We do it to make stuff for other players that choose to kill monsters to horde gold.
We are a growing NEW shard... We do not want to make it to where new people do not want to stay... remember.... there are alot of other ESTABLISHED shards out there.... ones with real economies whether good or inflated.. they are loaded... my opinion is, not having a way for new people to quickly get thier skills up to be able to go for the big stuff, will make then not want to stay... unless they are traditionalist from OSI... myself, I never played there... so I wanted to get as strong as I could to be able to go all the cool places... now... once we have a player base, we can gradually curb the quickness of how fast a player can become a SUPERSTAR player, but right now.... we can't survive (I don't believe) with a shard full of entry level players. What if after we have been here a few more months revisit this and some other areas, biggest thing is we need to have a player base of more than 6 or 7 REGULAR EVERYDAY players... if someone comes from another shard they have been playing for months... they are going to hate having to start from zero unless they are relatively sure they can advance to a decent level fairly quick (since there are not alot of people to purchase the hard to find stuff they are used to having on there previous shard) to be at that familar level. Anyone else have a thought on my rant here?
You have a point Pip.....
We all know how horrific it is to start a new char.....Only having a STR of 60 and having a hard time with a headless!
The other thing that people want is new stuff.......No access to the everyday stuff....And that means players doing the crafting....
Or Arties...Or Shard unique weapons/armour (Which is what I want to see!)
BUT.....
If it was that easy everyone would be a smith/fletcher....
The first 2 skills I always GM are mining and LJ....Not only for the STR but because it always sells if I need cash. anti-macroing those would not make too much of a problem as you have to keep moving anyway to find new spots to mine.
True if we set up anti macro on one skill it should be on all, but thats kinda too much. So no anti macro, but i would still disable training mining and lumber on trainers.
well, i think the training room in general is the problem...not it being there, but the fact you can train up to gm, or legendary, whatever it may be. maybe cap it at 75 or so... at 75 in anything you should have the skills to be able to go out and gain the rest the old fashion way.
a saying goes something to the effect of, you can only gain so much in training, it takes real experience to become a master at it...
also, could be somethign like paying a fee based on the current skill level...like i'm at lvl 30 and wish to advance to lvl 50, would cost so much money/tokens/whatever.
i personally like the first one better, but still, going to the training room with 30 str, wake up in the morning with 100+ just isnt right, takes a lot from the game.
which brings me to another point i'd like to piggyback here...
the no skillscap doesnt make for people getting bored, in fact, i think that would make cause for a person not to get bored, having all the skills avalible for advancement... what makes peopel bored is having easy access to max the skills out.
Edit:
PS
Also like to add the fact that a major reason for there not being a lot of things to buy on this shard is the fact people dont have to go out and gain skills the old fashion way. if a person had to, then they'd come across a lot of loot/resources of various shapes and sizes, which would result in them having to sale some of it.
I really do not understand the training room. I think after a certain time it should be removed... People should have to work their skills, not go watch a movie.
They can be in the training room, fine. But they need to be at the computer. Only exception would be the pets... They eventually go wild anyways so it wouldn't matter.
yea, it's kinda to boost our shard... people need to start easy if they come to a whole new shard. Over time we'll make things harder, and well eventually close that room down too.
Expect the room to have a rule of "no afk" soon, or maybe i could make the trainers gain you only up to 75 skill (but i think that would be very hard).
