Well it will have to be a lot more than just 50-50 to pass.

Anyway, this is just a poll. It's still up for detailed discussion among the staff. From the looks of it right now, seems like the peaceful players woke up and voted against :lol:

Are you going to count the one what are for but not pvper as yes? Or only the pvpers as yes?

I really don't understand what everyone is losing their minds over!!

Ok, lets break this down...

First off to answer the question "Why did you join to a non-pvp shard???"

Well the simple answer is because Excelsior is populated with good players and I like pvp not pk!! There is a difference between the two!! If all I wanted was to pvp or fight pk's all the time then I would have joined a pvp shard!!

Secondly, everyone in chat was screaming about having to look over their shoulder and worry about being attacked. This system will allow for the players that want no part of pvp to play their game with absolutely NO worries about being attacked by another player!! If you want no part of pvp it's simple, don't go near the stone or shrine that will turn you red!! The way Coli is talking about coding it you'll have to actually click accept on a gump to be red and knowing the staff and players feelings on pvp causing problems I'm certain there will be alot more than one click just to be safe!!

Thirdly, Why does seeing players battling each other bother some of you? Sorry, I just don't understand this reasoning.

And finally, imo the pvp dungeon is lacking to say the least to anyone who enjoys actual pvp. It's fine for a duel but pvp and dueling are two totally different things!!

Pvp has been a big part of UO from the beginning. It's another aspect of the game!! I'm sorry there are times players need more of a challenge than a computer generated ai. There is nothing wrong with wanting to test your skills against a person as long as that person is a willing participant!!

This post is not meant to be a flame toward anyone so please don't take it that way!! And if you couldn't tell I vote was the first choice!! :P

Think an option to vote something like: I would like to see this done on a trial basis first before I commit to a yes or no vote would have been nice. Now I don't see much choice but yes or no because I do care.

I'm new here. I do not know how hard it is to have something removed after it's been implemented here, but I've seen at other places when something is started it never gets removed. I would suggest a trial time of doing this if it happens and see how it goes. We can see how people behave. If it causes more problems between people, and yes some of what was said in chat about this suggests some will be a problem. See what sort of people it brings here. I recall someone last week who went off in chat about this shard because it was not all pvp. See who and in what ways it will be abused. I don't wish to be shouted out in chat by some person or persons about how someone is a nub for loosing or winning or they cheated etc.

I'll check back in later and vote dependent on how the thread is heading in tone. If it's civil enough I'll vote yes.

ok my opinion:

ok........ so, i don't mind dueling, but when people allow pvp it becomes "hey dude, go turn red and help me gank this dude!" or "omg, if all 5 of us go red, i heard <name> is going to try --champ tonight and we could totally get a freebie out of that", or "man this dude is so lame, let's mess with him", also b/c you cannot change from red to blue at ANY time, b/c there is the said 24-72 hour idea, so could not want to be red anymore, but still have to wait and be "prey" to other reds. ALSO, you have the issue with area attack weapons, and i am pretty sure if you are red, then an area attack that is in the range of a 'blue' will cause them to react in war mode. so that would have to be fixed. Also a bunch of reds get some gank idea going, and call a bunch of blues in to "watch" to boost their ego... gah, just nothing good about PvP when you have no control over which type of people are allowed.. like you really have to have a selective process that no one would have time for :P and like someone said, you get all the smack talk in chat, b/c lets face it, people like to boast when it comes to PvP... it's an ego trip.


Dueling on the other hand.. maybe a gump, 1 click yourself, choose "duel" (when in Fel) and then target the person you want to ask to duel with, they get a gump (like adding a member to a party) and they have to type "Accept" then you get one duel, when the person dies its like non auto renew insurance, it's done. You have to initiate each individual duel . and if one person is in a duel with another, then no one can group up, b/c it is ALWAYS one on one. THIS is my kind of PvP. NO looting too of course, more of like a sportsmanship game where there is still dignity involved :) There would be nothing to talk smack about b/c it was a fair fight.

ok now that i've voted no... whats this poll about?

kidding heh. believe it or not, i can actually read! and i did.

with how its currently set up, once you turn red you won't be able to access your houses in tram? what about banking? just a little detail i'm curious about.

also i'm curious about how it will play out. what stops a guild from going all red and going around ganking other reds? doesnt seem very fun. neither does reds camping around the popular fel spots that people who dont like pvp like to go to... ok thats a bit confusing... basically... reds going around champs, and popular spots. what if i dont want to see people killing each other? too bad for me for choosing a family shard? true... i should have known i'd be forced to see such things

from what i can tell they will either be around champs, around this shrine, or around the fel entrance itself.

anyways, i have an alternative idea that could work better. what about instead of implementing "pvp" you implement a sort of "gladiator" tournament?

1. no chance of "innocents" having to be exposed to killing, it will be completely by choice whether you want to see it
2. sportsmanship will not be optional, it would be required.
3. the people that want to pvp and dont want to be looted wont have to be, if looting is enabled.

so my idea would be to create a kind of pit, not unlike the one at jhelom (except i would suggest much smaller.)

you can have a npc there and seats and stuff, then you can have a gump that a player opens up when they select the npc. in that gump will be pvp options, such as looting yes/no, pets yes/no, poisoning yes/no, whatever. also you can set up the fight to be for gold or items, both players put up 1,5,10k gold each, winner gets 75% of the total (helps economy...hey every little bit counts... and winner makes money.) then after this gump, they target a player they wish to challenge. the player challenged will get a popup not unlike animal lore and such, with the details of the challenge and whether they accept or not. there will be a gate for the players to enter once they meet the pvp requirements both agree upon. if they accept they can still cancel out of it before the fight, within a certain amount of time, or the fight would be void.

i actually dont know if this is possible, but it would solve a lot of the negative problems people have, including myself. personally i would be disinclined to play if i were forced to see people fighting when exploring/champing.

your right... it is apart of uo... That is why Excelsior was created, me an Alot of other people agree that we came here, or we searched for a shard that didnt have pvp... so to say what you said, yes its true, pvp is apart of uo, but at the same time, why add pvp 3 years later into a peaceful enviroment? Excelsior become a peaceful nice, wonderful place for all of us non pvper's who wanted to get away from it from the beginning...

the system coli made, looks good, but its not JUST the script, infact i like the script.. its all the non sense chaos blah blah this blah blah that, everyone (peaceful peeps) apparently stated why pvp is not goin to flow here...

i like how llexa explained it... and if pvp wanted to be More active, why not DO something with the pvp dungeon, or even better, get a few people to go there, an play in there, but not in the lands... an its not about [ignore if you dont like what the other person is saying, its the enviroment, when you log in to play, an you see that person u have on ignore, your gonna be reminded of what that person said/did or whatever, an its gonna get on your nerves... its just one of those things that would do better if it were never here... pvp dungeon is good enough

Taker, even without pvp you get that "environment". Someone says something that someone else takes wrong and it all begins!! It can turn into "mob" mentality if your not careful :P

As I've already stated the pvp dungeon is lacking in appeal for pvpers. That's why I first proposed a Pvp town in fel or something. Being in that dungeon just isn't the same and if you were ever into pvp you'd understand!!

I think some of you are missing a key point in this system. A pvp tabed chr ("reds") can only attack or be attacked by other pvp tabed chrs. They can not attack "blues." It is not like the osi system where you start "blue" and gain murders to become red. Or at least that is my understanding.

My post was not in anyway directed at you UT. I have been reading this topic and it seems people haven't loot at that part of his post closely. I understand that you don't want pvp here. I'm in no way attacking that. I think that there is no way pvp can me implement here by reading this topic. Its a headed subject understandably. I am sorry if you felt i was attacking you and I assure you that is not the case. My previous post was only for clarification.

Why not just give it a week or so trial period. All I see for reasons NOT to do this is SPECULATION. Lets put it in and +Coli can wait by the outlet and pull the plug. Didn't think there were some many closed minded people here.
