Colibri [Admin] wrote:correction, no guarantee on the "closing down" part. just AFK for now, maybe disable some skills over time... we'll see.

People like to stay here because they dont need to work 6 months again to build up their character.

Ehh, then I think 75 should be max...

I agree with most of this. However, this is a very very very small shard, where the most I have ever seen on is 10 people. I think the macro room should stay open where anyone can gain skills. Lets face it, most regular shards, there is usually 1 out of 1000 people on line that will help you work on skills, you are kinda limited here, when you log on and there is maybe one other person out doing something, however, they are ingaged in something else. This is to small of a shard to start thinking about pulling anything at the moment in my opion. When you get to 50-75 people on line at any given time, then I would look into pulling the plug on some of these items. But keep in mind there are shards right now you can go to that are on the public server, walk through a gate on those shards and wam, you are gm in as many skills as you want. Two minutes and you can be GM in 15 areas, as well as a few shards starting you out with 500k. So even though people may go afk ect, I still think its too soon small and too soon to start.

The problem is that the shards where you are an insta GM in all skills are the shards that have an incredible turnover of players.
Yes they draw in a lot of people but they always go fairly quick because thye get bored. Nothing to do and nowhere to do it.

Its the same with PvP shards. Its very rare that you will have a strong stable playerbase. People come and go. The only way to make people stay is to give them something to be proud of and make them work a little for things.

All skills in UO can be gained on your own. Soif you don't mind my asking, what skillls do you need others around to raise?

The other good thing we have is that many people here are happy to help where they can in the way of information. But on the whole players on this shard are encouraged to go out and play the game rather than go to bed with your char working skills....

I disagree with that. If I had to work forever to get my skills up to start making cash and to get things. I would never have come to Gateway. I would have just stayed on Origin. I worked 9 years to get that stuff, but got very tired of all the BS. If I had to start over again, I would have just stopped playing. I want to play and go have fun, not sit for a month hitting ettins to get that GM skill, or sitting at a black smith shop for 3 months with the couple hours a day I play to get that skill up. But in all reality we should not be the ones to say anything, this should be left for only new players to vote on in my opion. I mean its very easy now that we sit here with all our GM skills and start talking about getting rid of it, I mean we are already there. Your not effected by it, nor am I.

You have a good point....Yes, it doesn't affect us....But it did....

And setting the skills to eth OSI standard woudl be suicide.
The rate they gain now is fine....But don't allow it to be macro'd is all

It would go on gradually, we wouldnt just put all skills as on OSI. But it seems like this didn't pass, so maybe another pool about it in a few months.
