Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd... +Col comes in with the hammer that destroys the rumor mongering and changes everyone's perspectives on how the changes will be implemented.
Might as well just delete the thread and start over. There are still valid concerns but it appears this was thought out differently than what was passing through the grapevine the last few days.
+Col, you mentioned pricing TC differently in the future, where rent is higher but the daily vendor's commission may be lower: have you considered making the change across the board to decrease daily vendor cost percentages on a sliding scale as prices of items increase? Players of all types currently earn higher priced items, but placing them on vendors is nearly non-existent due to the fees. It would be great to see these items on vendors more often to further expand the economy. It feels like a lot of items on the market sit in people's banks, since some players don't advertise them in [c and don't use the market forum here on the site. If the vendor system can support 10 or 11 digit figure pricing, we could even see a new market full of level'd weapons, relayers and the like. It would sure be fun!

Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
thanks for clearing that up. i asked clarification from another but no matter thank you c.
well definately means repair deed vendor that just breaks even cant be listed in Brit. it has a daily salary of about 400 so to list it would be 5000 it could not make it. now that i know the 5000 is not mandatory my shop will go back to regular number of vendors.
By the way I have noticed you have opened zento up to 3 spots. why cant we do similar in tc 2 not 3

Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
What if prices were shown on the vendor website, but only for completed listings? While I agree that it is a useful tool to quickly find an item you are looking for, I think removing prices is very reasonable. I did, however, like to use the "completed listings" search tool as a quick and dirty price check to see roughly what items sell for, both so that I have a ballpark figure for trying to sell one myself, and so that I know roughly how much I can expect to pay for something. Since prices became available on the vendor website, the number of "Price Check" posts in world chat dropped significantly. This was perhaps my favorite feature of the site, being able to get a group concensus on price ranges for various items. With the prices no longer showing for listed (unsold) items, these values would be an even better reflection of the true value of these items.
I also used the website as a "vendor management" tool. I would search myself under owners for sold listings and ctrl-f the date to see what I sold so I could restock. I can still do this, except that now I don't remember how much I sold things for in order to relist them (takes a moment to laugh at myself). For now I guess I need to keep a list at my computer or something...
I don't know if my above suggestion would even be possible, but figured it couldn't hurt to put my thoughts on this out there. I don't remember seeing this particular idea discussed before, but if so, my apologies.

Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
Prices on sold items might not be a horrible thing. I think it would still be counter productive. Perhaps another feature that simply showed a range of what items sold at wouldn't be bad. But it too would likely be counter productive. If you want an idea of what things should be listed at, then search the item and check what the vendors have it listed at. It's more of a chore than previously, but better than not having the site at all
Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
If we have it show completed prices, then we'll have players buying their own items to make it seem like that's the going price. I honestly think all prices being removed from the site is the best thing for it, and the shard economy. Many of you say you don't think it had much effect, but trust me - it did.
Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
if you need to figure out pricing on an item and the site doesn't show prices..
*gasp* you might actually have to talk to and interact with your fellow players on a community game
oh dear whatever will we do

Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
+Col, the default sort on the vendor site appears to be most recently listed at the top. Is that intentional? It means whoever shuffles their vendor around and reprices the same item will always be at the top of the search list, which is a big advantage. Can it be randomized somehow? Or maybe oldest listed at the top?

Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
I'm kind of confused. My vendor is in Zento and it says on the vendor gump that my stuff will be listed on the website but whenever I do a search it shows nothing listed. I have searched a few of my items and each time it shows nothing listed. Is it bugged? Is anyone else having issues?
Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
sounds pretty simple to me......To the hardworking go the spoils.
only problem that seems legit to me is the 200k a week for a shop on the world portal to much imo unless your the type that plays 20+ hours a week but just my opinion. not saying it should be 50 k a week but 200k is too much

Anna, the website only updates every 10 or 15 min, maybe it was that?

But seriously 200k a day (within a few hours) shouldn't be hard for a mid-level player, imo atleast...

Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
It's more than just the 200k though, it's whether it's a reasonable return on investment. Newer players won't be able to stock their stores with enough volume or high enough priced items in order to justify the investment. It basically relegates the vendor site to only top-end merchants which furthers the gap between the elite merchants and the lower end merchants.
Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
I don't see it that way. Who would get a "shop" for just one vendor? Generally it's a guild or a player opening up a vendor mall. If someone wanted just one vendor, they would rent a spot from a player or the shard itself.

Re: Considerations Regarding Vendor Change
i agree 200k a week is to much. before i left for 3 months it was 100k. not everything needs to be a gold sink. With the 200k i barely make a profit. it does not matter. I will keep my shop open. to compete i either have to list or pay 200k. I do not understand why it went up from 100k I understood each week you kept it went up 10k. I did not understand it giving me option to extend rent a week and taking it just to find out it only extended 3 days because i had 4 days left on current week. i do believe it is 200k to help guilds but it does hurt the single vendor.
i just love people that think i am rich. prior to bee nerf kegs were big business. now i sell less then 20 a week. big orders are a thing of past. I am not complaining it has picked up was 8 a week before i left cleveland. There is a reason I added things to keg vendor to make that vendor to show a profit. by itself kegs would not make a profit after you subtract daily fee. I stock alot so if i want to miss a couple of days stocking I can.
