Separate channel,page,etc for ad/spam
Is there any energy behind an opt-out choice for the automated ads that pollute wc? there's vendor-net in place already, forum posts that advertise everything, and our own eyeballs: we can prowl through the few malls on the server and look at stuff on our own, at our leisure... Could a world chat filter for the hourly automated spam ever be a consideration? It's a service that I would cheerfully pay for in the ED room...
Re: Separate channel,page,etc for ad/spam
Id be all for a [t channel then let us turn it on or off.
Re: Separate channel,page,etc for ad/spam
I don't mind the ads in world chat most of the time but I wouldn't be against the option to turn them off if I wanted to. Having a separate channel for advertising seems like a good idea to me. I find that I sell things faster when I advertise them but I can see why it would be annoying to see every single hour.

to see so many of them...hour after hour after hour....typically offering not much different than the last guy...the malls are on the world tele, and we are well aware of tc and zento, it just seems a bit of overkill there to pile robo-ads on top of that... - oh, and for good measure: 'bah, humbug!' - have a banana!

I would rather not see the same ads, with all the same stuff, spammed every hour either. A trade channel would be nice but ignore works for now.

They talked about a sales channel a long time ago but never acted on it.
For people doing Champ runs, those fall into MUST BE ON ADVERTISING channel as well!
Personally I would love to see 3 channels instead of just the 1
1 - Main Worldchat
2 - Special event chat (seasonal events, player events and Gm events)
3 - advertising & champ update channel

I agree that WC ADs are annoying... I'll do do a "selling this item" sometimes but it is not an ad for a vendor or 20 items that auto-plays once every 2 hours. those should be on the forum. however, current rules allow it so I can't really be too upset about it.
Champ spawn announces are legit WC items IMO and should not be subject to advertisement rules.

I like this idea, but how about having the standing "event" channel include champ announcements too? I've never been comfortable with the idea that announcing a champ is the same as an advertisement yet it is different than general chatter.
