This is well in drama teritorry by now, so to clear a few things up:
- Aerith, yes you did quite a first impression in that thead. I don't remember seeing any other posts or chat like that, so I hope it's safe to say that it's now in the past (forgiven, but not forgotten).
- Muolke, I don't see your first reply to add anything to the conversation, except to stir things up. Well, I remember about a week back there was a similar thread,
http://uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12874, altough I haven't yet reviewed it, I think it's unnecesary to drag that out to other threads.
- (FYI, John Warren's comment on the pricing - it's allowed, as long as it's expressed politely and respectfully, which i see it was, and I'm glad to see it was well received).
... and regarding related topics:
- There's no rule that would say that a name can't be ALL CAPS. So, well i'm not a fan of the MUOLKESHAKE all caps name, if i denied that name that would mean we'd have to change a bunch of other player's names, and I think it's not necesary.
- If someone is posting in public chat too frequently and breaking the rules, please send a ticket and write the name of the player, and the times when you've spotted it. We don't monitor the ads, well it's only if they would be really frequent, would they be noticed and dealt with without someone reporting it. There were no reports about chat spam for at least a few weeks, at least that I know of.
- A while back, MUOLKESHAKE was spamming at the towncenter with I think a 20 second interval, it was reported and he toned it down. There's no rule defining the minimum delay between messages, so I told him to make it at max every 3 minutes, which he adhered to. I figure, if it's every 3 minutes, it's a good chance that a player who came by to do a quick purchase of an item in the towncenter will hear it once, and someone who's browsing will hear it a few times.
- Our donation reward system is awesome, not only because you don't have to wait for the rewards or that it frees up my time not having to bring them, I also don't keep score who donates how much. I can see, and I do check that out sometimes, especially if there's an issue with the stone not finding the rewards, but it does signifincatly cut down on this subconscious bias.
In general, the ad-per-hour and 12 ads max in a day rule, is one of the milder rules, you don't get insta banned if you break it, so if nobody notices it doesn't even matter. Still it's a clearly written rule, so if you advertise more than that, you get the initial warning and then chatban.
I am more annoyed by the AFK/macroed advertising, where the same message can go on for a very long time. Perhaps this could be sorted out with a special command where you enter the text and it also requires you to enter a captcha, can only be done while at the keyboard. Or an additional chat channel for trade.
