Young Players & Organics

I know what your thinking "Oh no not this again". Will I've seen somethings the last couple of days that has really got my goat. I've seen 4 new players (not young) With maxed pets, sweet gear, and castles. That's all and good but it's how they got it and how it effects their game play. Now for example one of them wanted to go hunting with me, I'm always game to take someone and go hunting. Tho I dont know a lot about this game (first shard first online game). This person had no clue what to do or how to even control their pets. I had a talk with them and came to find out they were only 7 years old and someone had paid them to farm organics. Told them it's how to get the "good stuff" on the shard. This is nothing but taking advanatge of a young person for your own personal gain. I know most say will they got maxed items what more could they want. How about some game experience. While your young you can travel most of the shard without worrying about being attacked. Heck you can tame some nice animals that way also :). I want to put a stop to this abuse of young players and suggest that some kind of infromation be posted letting them know what they are getting into. I know when I start I was asked by several players to farm organics and they would pay me 150 each for them. I did this so I could get my first house and some gear but also I'm old enough to know when to stop and go enjoy the game. What are we going to do for the young players that want to have fun, and also for those who are buying their organics were are you going to be when they figure out they need organics so they can have bio pets? Tell them to do the same as you and take advantage of a young player thus just making and endless circle. I think if organics are going to stay the same as they are now can we at least get some kind of information ie.. npc at that location inorming them of what the organics are and what can be done with them. Also might want to put in there they are very rare after your young status is gone. I'm all ears for any suggestions. Ok i've ranted enough now. The bottom line I think is we need to stop the abuse of others taking advantage of young players. Thank you for your time and energy in this matter. Happy hunting :)

I have no idea what organics are for or where to farm them. Maybe that is a problem as to why people are being exploited ;)

When i started i didnt know what they were either but they were not in high demand back then. Its going to suck for those new players after those first few weeks when they can't enter the dungeon anymore. They are going to go into the world and have no idea what to do. Sure they will have the pets and gear to kill things but they wont know how to use their skills or any of the commands. They will come to realize that the monsters out of that dungeon actually hit hard and don't drop loot that all of the older players beg for. This will cause the players to get frustrated and some of them might quit. this needs to be rethinked

The Wiki covers most of the information that younger and older players alike should know. After reading this I just updated the section on the Newbie Dungeon so that young players know just what organics are for and that they're hard to come by. As long as we all let the newer players know about the Wiki there should be no major problems; they'll have a lot of good info right at their fingertips to help them. :)

Mabye something could be scripted so that when a new player enters the game, it can give them a gump that sais something like "Please visit and read our Wiki page. It has a vast amount of info that will be found very usefull to a newer player." then have a link to it like the Webpage Stone.

I like that idea, Silencer.

I'd take it one step further though, and have new players start in a different room entirely. It would be far away from the town center (to reduce lag on loading item tooltips and such), but have a one-way red teleporter shield which only lead to the TC, along with an explanation on how to use it.

The room would have a few books or signs or website-stone-like-things that would direct the new players to the wiki, as well as give them a super basic rundown on the shard features such as there being no skill cap, no PvP, and the use of [c to chat in global chat. The rest they can go check the wiki for.

This way they'd start in a non-lagged area, know the most important features of the shard so they don't have to make a fool of themselves asking, and understand the teleporter system from the get-go.

The room would not take long to make at all, and the books won't need more than a few lines of text.
