What kind of guy is this? please take a read!

Post by Ranametalera »

Guys, somebody explain me, what kind guy is the guy who hast a good life in game, who has enough money to place a vendor at MZ or TC and he goes to another vendor to get stuff and then sell it at his vendor for double price?

Ranametalera (weekend bargains) is my vendor and its placed at MZ, i have noticed now many times ( at the begining i tought it was just a concidence ) that some guys with vendors at TC or MZ (lot of them looking like a rich guy) buy some of my stuff and then they sell it at double price, SHAME ON YOU! these are real cheap items not because i dont like GP these are cheap because young players and middle players needs to be able to get better gear to raise skills and economics.

Same case with Litoria vendors or Snapontools they have the same situation, i have seen at snapontools a book with legend that reads (pm if u want to buy a nice suit with all stats at 70 etc) he does it like this because if he try to sell it there these guys gonna buy it and then sell it at double price.

Yeah! i know youngs got those beautifull donation chest, but middle players what? they cant get acces to this chest any more and they dont got the money to get a nice armo or weapon because they just left their young status, and then what?

-it's like "i come to play couple times more, i see i CANT get a nice suit because i dont have money and all of these armo are soooo expensive, so i must to keep killing at shame dungeon with low armo, mediocre weapon and getting 5k every 4 hours"

because these guys got these items and then over priced it all at their vendor,

- "well, i think i'll leave this shard!"

Have you ever note how many new people comes daily? ("please wellcome this and that new player") and where are they? why we are not like 500 guys on line?

Come on guys!!! come on!!! this is a very very very easy and kind shard, here is not necesary to do that kind of stuff, i know very well is not forbiden at the codex, but come on!!!!! use ur brain, if u cant get rich at this shard with all these peoples helping us, with this admin, then look for another game, this shard its easy! and kind and full of oportunities to become rich as a seasoned player .

Am i wrong? what is this all about? do i need to double my prices? who wins? the rich getting rich? and what about the younger and midle guys?

Dont get me wrong i dont want to give names or start a problem here, i just want to make a call to your conccience to stop this situation and look for a better chance for young and middle players, think about it! we are like 150 people playing at the same time, this kind of "strategie" will afect our economics soon or later.

In the other hand i got an idea maybe admin can make a kynd of script to make us able to mark some items as "young item" and those guys who has more than 2 months playing cant get those , i dont know it is just a simple idea that comes to my mind right now but PLEASE!! PLEASE!!! dont think you are the smart guy here dont think you are making the big deal here WHAT you are doing here is afect the shard and the people who plays in a right way!

I dont use to be writing all day in world chat or making post every day in fact tis is my 3th post and i hope people understand this in the right way.

This is why Litoria and I have our own shop. We keep our prices low to help people on the shard get back on their feet should something happen, and to generally help people not have to spend an arm and leg for the essentials.
There are books on the tables that clearly explain; should you wish to buy in bulk with the intention of reselling, send us a pm and we will gladly work something out. If we catch you continually wiping out our inventory and reselling it to rip people off, you are banned from ever coming back. It's that simple.

And yes, people have already been banned for that very reason.

I've noticed that sort of thing happening to with my vendor but it doesn't bother me that much. If someone comes to me and asks me for help with something like armor I will often make it/find it for them right then. I also try to announce my new stock in global so that all online are aware of what's available. If someone wants to buy my stuff and resell it at double price, hey more power to them. Eventually those mid-level players will find my vendor and i'll get some good repeat business.
BTW! I will have lockpicks for sale on my MZ vendor in bulk very soon! Twisted Albino's!
What is your vendors name Rana? I'm sure a lot of peeps reading this would be glad to know where they can find great gear at low low prices. 8)

You're selling your items, doesn't really matter who to... isn't that why you put them on your vendor? I would be more than happy to sell something to a player that I think is a fair price and then see them try to sell it at double. I still sell it at the price I want. If you want to sell things cheaper for younger players then there are alternate ways to do this rather than putting them on your vendor... donation boxes, YC, give out tours and equipment to new players etc etc

I honestly don't see what the problem is... if you don't want to sell things, then don't put them on your vendor. If you do then put them on, you set the price... if somebody buys it then they own it.. they can do what they want with it...

where do you get off thinking you have the right to dictate what a buyer can do with items purchased from your vendor? grow up!

i sell nobles at 90k ea MAXED. i know people are going to be trying to resell em but i have so many that my vendor usually has a few. now they buy the maxed noble at 90k ea and they try to resell it on their vendor. because people already know i sell at 90k ea; the people trying to resell will not. they will end up paying more money on rental fee from those 100k+ nobles they have on their vendors. it's quite funny really. but i get to sell my stuff fast and that's total instant gratification for me.

also medium players. they can do bees and make around 5 mil per month.

as long as there is greed in the world/game and there is no ceiling price. people will always try to make money for free. get used to it, or get mad. here's a tip: put a book saying pm you if you want to buy xxx type armor, yyy type armor, aaa type armor. then you'll know who your selling to.

also...i sell MAXED bio's for 3 mil (normal price for a bio a year ago was 8-10 mil), and why do i do this? get's rid of stock i have just laying around the house and provides for the medium players. would people try to resell them. sure they could but i can pump out more. :) 7600 luck oh yeah baby!! (flame me troll me don't care : ) )

had to get in some advertisement :Þ

First of all, there's soooo much more to the game than just "getting rich." IMO the whole point of the game is to pass the time of day (or night, in some people's cases LOL) and have some fun.

If you're grinding and grinding, that's not fun. And you said it yourself, "it's easy." Well of course it is. If it takes someone 4 hours to make 5k, something is terribly, terribly wrong.

"Lost" NPCs can be escorted easily every 5 minutes. You can get anywhere from 500-900 gold each time. Many are near public red shield teleporters. Walk up to the NPC, and say "I will take thee." They will then tell you the destination, and you simply walk to the portal and click on the city. The NPC will follow you.

New folks can do the newbie Rat Quest to get Organics and sell those. Someone in game last year said they made MILLIONS doing that.

Mine Iron ore and sell. Many of us do a lot of BoDs and just don't have time to go mine all the time, and so we rely on others to help provide the ingots. They make money, and we get our BoDs done.

Also I notice fairly new people going out to fight harder stuff than they really should, and usually end up dying a lot (and crying for a res). After learning about Insurance, and then dying frequently, it's a no-brainer that money disappears awful fast.

And armor? Well many sell good Platinum armor for 5-8k each piece. Yes it may take you some time to find the right combo to get all your resistances up to 70, but once you do you're set for a while.

Fill Tame BoDs, and get leather, organics, some gold and power scrolls to sell.

Earth Elementals drop Fertile Dirt. People buy it in bulk.

Free bandaids by killing Mummies and Jukas.

Skin everything you come across and sell hides. Again, crafters will buy. Also if you skin, you get raw meat. Use for feeding pets, or cook and eat yourself. No need to buy food at all from NPCs. Also many fruit trees around Britain. Double click the trees and pick your own fruit.

Within a month of starting playing on this shard last year, I was able to obtain a double-wide 18x18 game house plot and had it built. Granted I had some help by borrowing the gold and EDs initially, but the debt was promptly repaid within about a week and a half.

Want to know how I made the gold? Hunted Orc Lords and other lower/mid-level monsters. Looted certain armor pieces off the corpses and sold at the Blacksmith shop. Not all stuff on the corpses is "junk." If you search thru the stuff and do test sales at the Blacksmith shop, you will notice that you can get over 100 gold per item, and some times more. I won't share the "secret" of which items to sell, but let's just say it has something to do with a dmg modifier on the weapon. Some have it, and some don't. Sell the ones that do.

So, not only do you get the corpse gold and bonus gold from [claim the corpse, you also get money from selling items from the corpse. Collect all Necro regs and store on the FREE Spellcasters key ring found at Minoc Public Moongate. When you have a lot, like say 20k of each type of reg, go to Umbris and sell to the Necro NPC for gold. Save gems in a gem box and think of the gem box as kind of a "savings account." You can make gold easy just by selling gems to the Jeweler NPC near Brit bank.

If you need/want arrows, then don't buy them. Go earn them yourself by killing Juka Lords (Wrong dungeon in Trammel or in the building near Savage Camp in Ilshenar, but that's a harder place) or by killing archer Ratmen. You can also get them by lockpicking dungeon chests. Craft them too. Reapers and some other monsters drop regular logs. Gather feathers from birds like Harpy or Chickens, or even one of the Deathwatch beetle types in Tokuno Desert. I don't remember if it's the hatchling type or the other, but if you skin them you get a good pile of feathers. Orcs drop arrow shafts. Use Razor to "vacuum" up dropped arrows. Soooo many people never bother to pick up arrows. I never buy arrows, and haven't bought any in months because I pick up so many arrows from the ground.

I'm tired of hearing people complain about gold and not having certain items. If you don't FULLY explore the game and attempt test sales at NPCs and only think you're getting gold from corpses and nothing else, then you're missing out on so much in the game.

You don't need Mules or other expensive pets. I made my beginning fortune with pack horses, parked in a safe place near my hunting spots. You can give your pet the Stay command, then cast Invisibility on it. Just don't forget where you parked it. LOL I didn't have any maxed pets until AFTER my big house was built.

And stop spending so much time at the darn trainer. Get out there and earn your skills by actually doing stuff. If you spend all your time at the trainer, you're not making gold.

Remember [claim and [claimall is your best pal. Don't be a bum. Use it! :D It's free gold for crying out loud! The amount you get depends on the difficulty of whatever you kill. [Claim picks up arrows, Ointments, bandages, Fertile Dirt. [Claimall is pretty self-explanatory. Only use [Claimall on certain monsters that don't drop many items, or your pack will get overloaded way too fast. I use [Claimall on Fan Dancers and other corpses after I open up the corpse to double check what it holds. It doesn't take any time at all once you set up a "Say" hotkey on your game client. I use Ctrl C for [claim and Alt C for [claimall. It works for me because I'm left handed. I keep my cordless keyboard in my lap, using my left hand for casting spells, [claim corpses and Control Shift to bring up title/name labels for targeting purposes.

And don't worry about what someone else does. You don't know the value of letting people see you sell stuff cheaper than the next guy. Those who buy from others and attempt to sell again at a higher price only makes them look bad in the end. And they will eventually give up the behavior. It takes some time but once people get to know your vendor, they will return again and again. Everyone wants a bargain. If that wasn't true, the world wouldn't be flooded with cheap overseas goods and dollar stores.

Finally, cheer up. It's just a game.

Didn't read it all, But, got the idea of what it's about.

As long as your stuff is selling for the price you set it at then there is no problem, people will always undercut or double there prices for the same thing, it happens in real life, it certainly will happen in game.

UO is about taking time and building your character up, hence why we don't start with max stats etc... so yeah your going to spend hours on end hunting the same stuff over and over to get to where you want to be... new or vet...

I don't shop around on vendors myself, but if I did I would hate to see books on there saying "PM me to buy my armor" that is like, huh?!?, why would I want to waste time PMing someone to buy there gear, too much waiting about, might as well just spam public chat with what I am looking to buy.

As a last thing i leave this video to you guys, i find that this is a very usefull way to express what i think just the way you do =) oh! by the way, stop crying guys, you will still being the most powerfull and fancy guys at shard :dance you dont need to come like a bang on me, everything will still like it is for you. so, what's the reason to get angry? :verymad:

This shard is pretty well balanced to be honest, and it goes through a lot of changes to keep it that way, so for a new player to say such a thing is ludacris.
Excelsior has grown from being 20 people on max when I first started to what it is today, so for you to say that, again, your wrong.
This shard is succesfull, it has great growth in it's player base, while the staff keep things refreshed, and Colibri works around the clock making sure things are not unbalanced to a degree that it will not stop players coming.

I have been here a while, I am not rich, I am not uber, I play for the fun of the game, if I want something I will earn it, as a new player I didn't have tours or anyone helping me out... it wasn't untill I would say a few months in that I had help from a guild (CTH)
