UO is a very old game, it doesn't recognize 90% of the memory in your computer. It is very particular!

Once UO is running, your computer fixes any problems automatically!

Likely causes (close these to fix it)
- Web browser open
- email program open
- too many programming running in background

This is nearly always because you have something else already using the internet.
Could be a browser, some program that automatically updates, maybe a torrent program.
Once you have UO running, you can restart all of those.

Essentially open up your system processes screen, shut down anything using a lot of memory.
- Web browsers
- Email programs (like outlook)
- voice chat programs
- other video games

Another option, reboot your computer and start UO up right away. We are talking about a game that is closing in on 20 years old!

sometimes i have to go into task manager and manually close Explorer.exe, chrome.exe, etc. under Processes.
they tend to take a majority of memory on startup.

Also another problem is I can't uninstall it properly. It doesn't show up in the programs lists from the control panel. Only way to remove was to delete the file location.

- Game setup as Administratior (VERY IMPORTANT), run in compatability mode for xp service pack 2 or something like that as well.
- Google chrome - click box that disables background processes when chrome is not open (VERY IMPORTANT)

goto your start button type in: msconfig

Go through the list of startup items, odds are that a lot of stuff loads that does not need to load. Laptops need more programs running than PC's. Most of the time I don't let anything boot up with my computer just to keep memory as free as possible. Un-check the box beside the item to disable it from booting when the computer boots. You are not disabling the program, just making it NOT start up when the computer starts up.

Not sure what the items are, do a google search for the command name of the program and the word 'Virus' will narrow it down quickly for you. ie: virus overworlf
