Ok so i have to equip my shield AFTER my weapon otherwise it does not gain exp, nor does it give any of the hit effects. But it does gain exp.
*Edit: Wearing no shield also means i get the wep hits and exp...

Guess I've just gotten lucky in my equip pattern while leveling lately. Thanks for the heads up.

There was a bug to where you could equip ur shield first, then ur weapon, and say u had a titans shield, u could area hit every mob with say a dagger or any item in ur other hand, and gain exp while area hitting and killing faster with the shield as opposed to most weapons. The fix he did was to whatever weapon is doing the hit, is the one gathering the exp.

So its possible to add hit (lighting, area, fireball, lowerdefense) relaying a weapon into a shield + a one hand weap and its not a bug?

To clarify:
There was a bug that allowed a 1h weapon to gain xp from damage done by a relayered shield. So, if you had a titans relayered into a shield, equipped the shield fist, and were leveling a plain dagger in your main hand - the titans would kill the mobs, but the dagger would get the xp. This was a rather nightmarish exploit allowing players to level weapons extremely fast (and lazily).
Colibri has fixed the bug. So now an off-hand relayer (shield, lantern, candle, etc) can't do any damage, and 1h weapons can't gain xp from damage done by other sources, including the offhand.
This means that you may need to equip your main and offhand in a different order than you are used to, in order to gain xp on a main-hand weapon.
