Starting Guide For New Players On Excelsior :)
As a new player on the Excelsior free shard, there are several exciting activities that you can embark upon to kickstart your adventure. Let's delve into a comprehensive list of things to do as a newcomer to this immersive world.
First and foremost, take the time to acquaint yourself with the intricacies of the teleporter system located at the town center. This system will serve as your gateway to various destinations throughout the realm, allowing you to swiftly traverse the expansive lands of Excelsior.
Once you have familiarized yourself with the teleporter system, it is highly recommended to immerse yourself in the Training Room, also known as the new training dungeon. This specialized area, accessible through the teleporter, offers a plethora of resources and challenges to aid you in honing your combat skills. Within the dimly lit depths of the training room, you will find an assortment of daggers, carefully curated to assist you in the arduous task of refining each of your combat abilities. Push yourself to the limits, for the training room allows you to elevate your combat skills up to an impressive skill level of 75. Moreover, while engaged in combat training, you have the unique opportunity to develop and enhance your character's stats, ensuring a solid foundation for your future endeavors.
Once you have mastered the art of combat, it is time to venture beyond the training room and explore the vast wonders that Excelsior has to offer. Take your first steps into the unknown, wander through captivating landscapes, and dare to delve into the mysterious dungeons that dot the realm. These dungeons, teeming with formidable foes and hidden treasures, provide ample opportunities for both excitement and growth. Let your curiosity guide you as you unravel the secrets concealed within these ancient halls.
As you begin to acclimate yourself to the world of Excelsior, consider the prospect of joining a guild. One such guild, known as the New Era Of Excelsior, "NEX" headed by none other than myself, offers a unique approach to nurturing and supporting new players. This guild sets itself apart by bestowing upon its recruits a set of starting gear, equipping them with the tools necessary to embark on their journey. Furthermore, as you progress through the game, the guild provides incentives and rewards, such as coveted artifacts, as a testament to your dedication and perseverance. By actively participating in guild activities, engaging in collaborative quests and challenges, and embracing the camaraderie of your fellow guild members, you will not only enhance your gaming experience but also forge lasting bonds that will accompany you throughout your adventures.
In your quest for greatness, the guild may guide you through the formidable Gauntlet, a trial of strength and wit. By conquering the Gauntlet, you not only prove your mettle but also have the opportunity to obtain your very own artifacts, coveted relics that grant unparalleled power and prestige.
So, as you embark on your Excelsior journey, remember to take the time to master the teleporter system, hone your combat skills within the training room, explore the world, consider joining the New Era Of Excelsior guild, and embrace the challenges that lie ahead. May your path be filled with thrilling encounters, bountiful rewards, and lasting friendships. Enjoy your time in Excelsior, and may your legacy be etched into the annals of this vibrant realm!

Here is a great strategy to get going very fast on exelisor!!!
New Player to Champ Chaser:
1. Character starting skills: Begin with the Animal Tamer/Veterinarian profession. Allocate 40 skill points to Veterinary and the remaining points to Animal Taming.
2. Save Your Skill Ball "Credit to Johnny Warren for the advice"
3. Train Spirit Speak: It is essential to train Spirit Speak skill, as it allows you to heal yourself during battles and encounters.
4. The Training Room: Access the Training Room, which consists of five daggers, each corresponding to a specific combat skill. These trainers are designed to help you reach a skill level of 75. Each skill is linked to one or two primary statistics. For example, Mace skill enhances strength, Fencing skill improves dexterity, and Fishing skill enhances strength and dexterity. It is important to note that primary statistics gain experience faster when you have less than 1000 skill points and when using a skill below 80.
5. Continue to gain primary stats: Even after reaching a skill level of 75, focus on gaining primary stats. The daggers in the Training Room, despite having 999 durability, have a decay time (approximately 2 hours).
6. GM Lore and Knowledge skills: While training primary skills, you can simultaneously raise all Lore and Knowledge skills. This can be achieved by having a pet and a weapon equipped. Remember to mount your pet if you need to go AFK.
7. Train Animal Taming to 90: Invest time in training Animal Taming to a skill level of 90. This can be accomplished by participating in escort quests and purchasing pet brushes and necessary materials. When you run out of materials, repeat the escort quest. Keep in mind that there is a 5-minute cooldown on escorts.
8. Seek mules from the community: Reach out to players in the world chat and inquire if there are any mules available for a new player. Mules can be beneficial for carrying and transporting items.
9. Purchase essential items: Buy bandages, a leash for controlling pets, and an Area of Effect (AoE) weapon. These items will aid you during battles and encounters.
10. Hog the Newbie Champ: Once you have prepared yourself through training and acquiring necessary items, engage in the Newbie Champ encounter. This will allow you to test your skills and potentially gain valuable rewards.
By following these steps, you can progress from being a new player to becoming a successful Champ Chaser in the game. Good luck on your journey!

Re: Here is a great strategy to get going very fast on exelisor!!!
New players, please don't ever do that. There's no consensus on which is the best skill the use it on, but vet is definitely what NOT to use it on. Save your +60 skillball for a worthwhile skill, you only get one per account. Save it for remove trap or poisoning, thank me later. You can get Vet 10 120 just following a pet and healing it while it fights for you.
If you plan on using your +60 starting skill ball, please also use a 120 power scroll first. It may take a little longer to save for the scroll, but some skills are literally impossible to gain beyond 100, use the skillball to max a skill at 120, whichever skill you choose.
While I am providing advice to new players; read the wiki! There's an entire new player section there, that is a bit outdated, but has all the key commands etc in one place. It also tells you how to raise skills properly there.

Re: Starting Guide For New Players On Excelsior :)
John Warren is 100% spot on. Don’t waste your skill ball on Vet. It’s too easy of a skill to waste a skill ball on it.
Theres plenty of new player info on the wiki and on this forum from players that actually know what they’re talking about. Please be very cautious in following the advice of a player that up until a few days ago didn’t even know what a ship key is for.

You think you're a flex huh? You realize that a vast majority of people think the absolute opposite because of what you're doing and how you're acting right?Lach wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 5:54 amYou know what I'm getting sick an tired of this, seriously do not comment posts, do not talk to me, do not don't cry to them gm when I run the price up on every thing yall want at the next auction just because I can. Please do run everything up at the next auction(s). It's very entertaining watching someone think they're a success because they bought an in-game item by paying thousands of dollars in real money for it. I'm all for it. If ya didn't notice I haven't played the game in months...but I do love coming to the forum and watching you run a circus.
Re: Starting Guide For New Players On Excelsior :)
No you like to run your mouth and start drama that's all your good for frankly. Re: Here is a great strategy to get going very fast on exelisor!!!
I am not here to troll, just to prevent new players utilising what is just poor advice. You don't "Speedrun" UO, and you don't waste skillballs on easy skills like vet. I am happy to keep the convo on topic, but bad advice is bad advice, especially when the target audience are new players who don't know any better.
You can get Vet to 120 very quickly without a skillball, WHILE hunting and making gold. Using a skillball, especially to take it to 100, not 120, is not a good move, early, late or any game. You could afk it overnight if you didn't want to have to touch the mouse while taking it to 120. As I said, the wiki has great advice on how to rapidly raise skills here. There are only a few skills that are really hard, skillballs are worth saving for those.
Re: Starting Guide For New Players On Excelsior :)
Nah, I don't believe it. We've already seen what you do. You think what you're doing is a flex and it feeds your ego. It's very entertaining to watch. Seems like your behavior isn't just in-game. You got lucky and made some money on BitCoin and now you're throwing thousands at a 30 year old game. Cool story. I own a business and sign my employees paychecks every 2 weeks. I don't need to donate tens of thousands of dollars and run up auction prices to make myself feel better.
Back to work for now...it's Monday.
Re: Here is a great strategy to get going very fast on exelisor!!!
There is no one way to start its really up to the player its just an opinion but then you all have to jump all over something just to try and prove your better than someone else. I'm just tired of both of your consent toxicity which is probably a big part of why we don't get new players.Johnny Warren wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 7:07 amI am not here to troll, just to prevent new players utilising what is just poor advice. Addition, after reaching 75 in given fighting skill do not fear the Reaper at level one. It is harmless and not moving target.Lach wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 6:48 pmit is highly recommended to immerse yourself in the Training Room, also known as the new training dungeon. You can increase your skill up to 90 (or 95>) by "fighting" the Reaper. Leave game running for a night or work.
Level this way all fighting skills before you are too old (Sword, Fencing,Mace,Archery,Wrestling)
Train without armor to save equipment.
Use cheapest, throw away shield to train Parrying at the same time.
Re: Here is a great strategy to get going very fast on exelisor!!!
as other wrote, use skill ball rather for hard to get or impossible to train skills (Chivalry above 115).
I used mine on Lockpicking after applying 120 Powerscoll and reaching 60.
other approach will be to get Cu Sidhe pet. If you are mounted on it it should heal you.
Yet another approach will be instal UOSteam or Razor and "Learn to code" - adding "bandageself" to the fight script.
(there are those sheep near Yew, you will learn to shear them with scissors, spin an weave near proper equipment at tailor shop, then cut cloth into bandages).
mules are fun, just not forget to bond it (feed it, store for the week at Animal tamer, retrieve and feed again).
yet again as above, before logging out, minimize pets with leash or sit on it. otherwise it will gone wild. I have re-tamed and put into pet donation chest over two dozens of riddable pack llamas.
Bandages, either shear sheep, make wool and cloth then cut the cloth or cut the looted clothing for bandages. Pain is that different color bandages do not stack.
Get second weapon for few but thick monsters .. a bow. Preferable Yumi, but other will do. Why? because your thin (hit points!) body can stay away from the big bad one. You avoid also pulling all monsters at one time with AoE.
Re: Starting Guide For New Players On Excelsior :)
I appreciate yalls input, I took this advice from another veteran player thats just about every new player on the shard. I just let my anger get the best of me when one of these veteran players get in my face & want to put down what I'm trying to do when they do absolutely nothing.
