So, you do a '+5 self repair' bonus for ED trade in, why not a minus 120 bushido (like the -mage) enhancement, only affixable to shields? or general armor, shields would just be easier, as theres no need to nerf bushido down if you are not wearing a shield ;o

this would allow a bushido expert to use a shield normally again

as for example the figures go, for 120 bushido/parry and over 80 dex, 5% chance to block with shield, 35% with 1hander, 40% with 2hand. and no, as far as I'm aware that shield and 1hander doesn't stack, i don't seem to parry at all when i use a shield ;(

Eitherway, Just an idea. might see less bows and more shields if this is implemented :)

Also, i have only been here 15 days now, but t-map loot? lol ^^ at least throw some organics/ointments or something worthwhile in there :O

The problem as I see it with this, IMO, is that Bushido spells far out weigh the benefits of having a shield, in particular Confidence and Momentum Strike. In hand-to-hand combat, I use these spells all the time. Unless a change to the script is actually put in to remove Bushido from the parry chance with a shield, I'll stick with Bushido and use a 2-handed weapon.

As for the T-Map treasure, having a chance of finding ointments or organincs in the chest would actually motivate me to do some of those 200+ t-maps I have sitting around. For balance, it would need to be a small chance for just a couple, like a lvl 4 or 5 t-map chest having a 10% chance of dropping 1-2 ointments or 50-100 organincs. This is a very good idea.

I to would be intrested to find solutions that would make shields useable again. I started a thread on the topic a while back, but it never picked up steam. I think an intresting idea would be to make an item or shield with a property that lowers your bushido skill and replaces it with a racial bushido skill which is not affected by the penelty, of course implimenting this would be much more complex then simply removing the penelty.

Soul stones could be another solution which is already coded in, though then you still have the problem of not being able to access all the nifty bushido moves while still having a lower block rate then a 2-handed weapon.

i agree, but disagree guru, as i like to swap weapons for different situations, i would be happy to turf out the 2h weapon for, in example, a luck shield/lucksword when my pets are doing the hardwork. or merely +DCI chance shield/sword when im mining/skinning up elementals, if it comes to damage ill stick with my bow, as its ranged and avoids melee swings. ;D

i think globally everyone agrees about t-maps. as the only ones worth doing, at a push, are lvl 6 ;/
