Doom "AFK" Leveling

Abundance of scripters recalling around now.
They'll recall in and let their macro go to work... Regardless if someone is already at the spot and killing mobs. Target macro just runs, killing everything; I know you can't own a non-peerless spawn, but taking someone else's kill is... Well, yeah.
Please disable recalling in Doom.
Sorry. Last rant in the disabled forum, I swearz =)

Hmmm maybe you should be reporting people for afk leveling instead of complaining about recalling and asking for it to be disabled. I recall around doom sometimes but I never kill steal from anyone. I always run away from them and the mobs they are killing. I can not say everyone does this because I have seen them do that to myself and others. But that is also a page-able problem, if someone is kill stealing then you should be asking for GM assistance. Not making forum posts complaining about stuff that should be taken care of via page. Please don't lump all the re callers together into one group either. I'm positive not all of them have attacked your mobs. :nod:

Another idea would be to request Magda Umbra to have an another doom dungeon added to it or to add a dungeon solely made for leveling weapons with no gold or drop of any kind with INSANE spawn rates. Then we could all level our weapons in peace and it would not increase inflation. :woot:

Just pointing out a rude tendency, or whatever you wish to call it.
Pointed no fingers, just said that some people running leveling macros (Recall/Target macros) have no concern for other parties already at the location. Pop in, target anything close by, pop out.
The reason I said "AFK" Leveling is because most people are not going to stop their macro, run off, apologize, etc. They'll let the macro run and continue watching T.V, stopping only if a GM strolls by. If you do, in fact, stop or whatever, I commend you. Most people wouldn't alt-tab back to UO to see whose on screen, let alone be polite enough to not kill-steal.
Can't own non-peerless spawns, but attacking another's target makes you a meanie.

this is one of the by-far best ideas ive seen of fourm
cause we all know how hard it is to try and level weapon with spawn that are so slow you can make a pot of coffee
befor something spawns up lol.
their could even be diffrent rooms for harder or weaker monster. if you are new or anything of that nature
and recall would be disabled so their could be no leveling macros.
cause as the days go on i ee more and more people AFK leveling.
and im sure im not the only one that is frustrated by this

I don't think anything should be done in the way of speeding up weapon leveling or making it easier to level weapons.
Reward should require effort.

Might as well add in a few extra lady mel spawns for all those campers, and maybe some more Bedlams, so we don't have to sit and wait for another chance at the bones. It's all the same thing really. there's an investment of either time, or effort, and even some luck, to get something you want. A game that hands everything to you really wouldn't be very fun to play after a short period of time.

I agree, that people should report other's they think are AFK to the GMs.
I don't really see why removing the ability to recall within doom is a big deal either, it seems like a pretty solid way to detour people from attempting to go AFK. If you want to kill more mobs and faster, run a round. If you want the slow and steady, I'm-reading-a-book, xp then stand and camp a spot.

If you spent the time to write a script for this you would understand. Why should people be punished for nothing? Not everyone who has done this is afk like I mentioned above. :D

I Agree running around is faster and camping is slower but we should have the right to choose between all three, even recalling. :nod:

I see where you're coming from Layfon, and the times I have seen you in doom you have always been respectful of other people and what they are currently killing. Unfortunately, you are one of the only people I can say that about since the recalling has become so popular (over the last week mostly). The problem with most people's scripting is that they do kill-steal, weither it's intentional or not it's still a crappy thing to do.

Personally, I think
1.) people need to realize that doom isn't the only place to weapon level, and certainly not if you are actually actively running and attacking. Unfortunately it is an ideal spot if you want to be semi-AFK/AFK (and furthermore use a recalling script).
2.) creating more (unique) spots with greater spawning rates would be a lot more appealing all around then simply duplicating doom.

Yes I agree with you that recently there has been a huge increase in players leveling in doom and there are tons of places to level without recalling. I know the spawn in fire was increased a bit recently. I only wish the re spawn of the monsters was increased as well not just the total amount of spawns within the dungeon. It would be amazing to see the rest of the trammel dungeons increased to the re spawn levels of doom. But my fear then would be too much gold being added to our already increasing inflation problems. This is why i made the suggestion for the loot free spawn dungeon big enough to support tons of players using. :woot: Maybe a poll on this would be a good idea to see how many people support a new weapon leveling dungeon?

i personally think that anyone who gets caught afk leveling a weapon should have the weapon taken and destroyed first offense. if you have to use the bathroom. recall away.

I agree that afking is bad and people should just stop if they need to afk but maybe reset the weapon to lvl 1 would be better then destroying it. hehe :)

Writing a leveling script is far from hard work. Don't try to justify whatever it is we're arguing about with "it took me work to be lazy" lol

I don't see anyone arguing on this thread which is a nice change. No one ever said it was hard work to write a script. Why not try writing your own then you can enjoy the benefits too. If you don't like others doing it then maybe try leveling your weapon on other spawns. Side mentioned there are lots of other places then doom to level your weapon and I couldn't agree more. :nod:
