I like the idea of no re-relayer but, what is the best way to regulate that? Without having a GM checking everyone backpack. That takes a lot of work from the staff. Or a portal to strip people gear to enter an area and then weapons to be provide. Possiblily more work to the staff

I like Reese's idea of a 24hour faction. Maybe that might be easier to activite and turn off for the staff. I'm trying to figure out a pvp without too much stress to the staff.

There even issues in all joining one guild and pvp anywhere. Mortal strike doesnt work. pets wont do damage to a guildmate. and unlike faction, you can get heals from other ppl. Those things alone will definitely making warring harder.

hmm...all of this talk of pvping, looks like we want a pvp event again. Maybe +V could bring back tower wars :P. Atleast once a month. We always had good turn out for those events.

+1 for me ive almost got to the point to start making a abundant amount of free 2 week accounts then playing on the test shard haha... i mean it would be amazing to have factions back because by JOINING a faction u are in fact giving conscent to PvP if u dont want to fight and ur in a faction.... stay in tram. Another thing is, that i dont like about OSI servers, that if ur in a faction and die in tram other players who arent in a faction cant res u. if factions did come back it'd be nice if that was removed :woot: but def give a +1 haha

First off, I'm not a PvP-er but doesn't mean that I can't respect it. Seems there's been quite a bit of chatter about retaining and attracting new players, a good amount of which regarding balance or the "what next" complex of more seasoned players.

Thought bringing a player-led Faction initiative may help ease both issues.

Just brainstorming some ideas:
1. Start a new guild for SECONDARY characters.
2. Have unique dye color for the two factions within the one guild.
3. Designated safe zones (faction strongholds, a shared guild hall as well as a safe town for each faction).
4. 300 Stat cap and 720 Skill cap
5. Corpses are lootable (excluding weapons). No blessing or insurance on anything except weapons.
6. No relayers, pets, or anything ED related.
7. No grieving -- Don't involve staff in disputes.
8. No tolerance on breaching rules -- Immediate kick out of guild. A rotten apple can spoil everything.

I know these general guidelines will not satisfy everyone but I believe this is suited more for balance. In my opinion this is much more about skill rather than uber gear. With no ED related items, there is no worry for instant heal or enchanted grove. Magery may have its day again and perhaps we'll see a bit of Paralyze, Explosion, E-bolting. Also note, this may bring back the market for crafted gear as the expectation is for all wearable gear to eventually be lost.

Notes:
1. Will require at least 6 dedicated members in my opinion. Of course the more the merrier, but thinking a minimum of 3 players per faction to gank and unsuspecting opposing faction would be enough.
2. There will be a bit of integrity required, as a good amount of the limitations mentioned above will be based on honesty. Periodic checks may be in order (screenshots of stats and skills while naked).
3. Those that don't like PvP / Factions just remember its a choice. If you don't want to participate then don't join the guild.

I think brain storming ideas is a great way to give feedback to staff, so I'm not hating on anything. However from what i know about +Colibri, UOEX will never ever ever be pvp on any large scale. And I'm not sure that is a bad thing really.

That said, if people want to PVP more, there is the PVP dungeon, while in itself now is not tons of fun. But if PVPers want to organize "events" in the PVP dungeon, i think this can be done with some degree of success. Even though I suck super bad at PVP, if there is a large player ran PVP event in the dungeon, i'd be down.

It's not a PvP dungeon, its a dueling dungeon. Saying "okay, im ready" and then starting the fight is not PvP.

If we want PvP here, as I've said before, we have a few choices:
-Events
-Factions
-Find a new shard

Events require insane amounts of effort from numerous staff members usually, including, but not limited to, creating/editing the area, creating gear sets that everyone must wear so they are equal (even then, some people will have more HP, Mana, higher/lower skills, etc), explaining/refereeing the event, so on and so forth. Even with all this work, this is a one time event (although we could see a bi-weekly dueling event using the same rules/gear, or something like that)

I'm not going to argue for factions for a fifth time, so either see the first few posts in this thread and/or read the Attracting/Retaining new players thread Nakkasu started.
